Colorado -- Minnesota Crookston softball lost a pair to Colorado based schools on Friday, falling 9-5 to Colorado at Colorado Springs and 10-1 to CSU Pueblo.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 0-6 on the season.
Game One
Minnesota Crookston would strike first in the top of the first, as they would use four walks to help score two runs. Riley Blake (So., OF/P, Las Vegas, Nev.) and Emily Kalina (Fr., CF/LHP, Rice Lake, Wis.) would each score for the Golden Eagles in the two run first.
UCCS answered right back with two runs in the bottom of the first and then took a 3-2 lead with a run in the second.
Minnesota Crookston finally got that big hit, as they would mount a two out rally that would be capped off with a Rayna French (Jr., C, La Salle, Manitoba) three-run home run, scoring Chayse Doering (So., OF, Shakopee, Minn.) and Hannah Trzinski (So., 1B/RHP, Stevens Point, Wis.).
Minnesota Crookston would hold a lead until the fifth, but the Mountain Lions would score six unanswered runs for the four run win in game one.
Minnesota Crookston finished with six hits in the game, all coming from the 3-8 hitters in the order. The Golden Eagles left six runners on base.
Megan Surgenor (Fr., RHP/3B, Andover, Minn.) got the start in the circle and gave up six runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings of work, while falling to 0-3 on the season.
Game Two
Game two would see the Thunderwolves of CSU Pueblo jump all over the Golden Eagles and take an 8-0 lead through the first four innings.
Minnesota Crookston would get one back in the fifth as French would come around from first base on an error to make it 8-1.
CSU Pueblo would walk-off the Golden Eagles with a two run home run in the fifth for a 10-1 win in five innings.
The Golden Eagles finished with three hits, as Kalina, French and Jocelyn Hernandez (So., OF, Tracy, Calif.) each had one.
Delaney Penner (So., P, Winkler, Manitoba) went 3.2 innings in the circle and gave up six earned runs on five hits.
Minnesota Crookston will play two tomorrow, starting with the Mountain Lions at 1:30 PM and Adams State to follow.
