Burnsville, Minn. -- Following a fantastic weekend, freshman standout Spencer Swenson (Fr., F, Sauk Rapids, Minn.) earned his first career NSIC North Player of the Week honor, as announced by the conference office.
Ben Kopetzki of Concordia-St. Paul earned NSIC South Player of the Week honors.
Swenson was fantastic this past weekend, helping the Golden Eagles to their first conference sweep of the season with wins over Minot State and UMary.
The freshman averaged a conference best 28 points per game and 10 rebounds in the two wins over Minot State and UMary, while also shooting 66 percent from the field.
In the win over UMary, Swenson finished with 31 points, a career-high and 13 rebounds, which matched a career best. Swenson now has five double-doubles on the season, all in conference play.
Swenson is the first ever Golden Eagle freshman to score 20 points or more in five straight games.
Swenson is the first Golden Eagle since 2019 to take home NSIC weekly honors, when Harrison Cleary did it twice his senior season. He's also the first Golden Eagle freshman since Cleary to take home the weekly honors.
The Golden Eagles will wrap-up the season this week when they host Minnesota Duluth on Wednesday and head to Bemidji State on Saturday.
