Alijah Washington's Career-High 24 Points Not Enough as Golden Eagles Fall to Golden Bears

St. Paul, Minn. -- Concordia-St. Paul used an 11 point halftime advantage to upend Minnesota Crookston on Saturday afternoon in the Gangelhoff Center by the same halftime advantage, 89-78.

Minnesota Crookston falls to 3-13 and 1-9 in NSIC play.

Minnesota Crookston would end the game with 11 threes and would get a pair early on following two from Donez Lindsey (Fr., G, Stockton, Calif.) and Alijah Washington (R-Jr., G, San Jose, Calif.) as the maroon and gold would lead 8-2.

The high-flying offense of CSP would take an 18-13 lead, but Chandler Meeks (R-Jr., G, Omaha, Neb.) would bury a pair of free throws.

Late in the half, the Golden Bears would extend their lead to 14, but Washington would but bury another three to cut the lead to 11.

Washington would bury a jumper 10 seconds before the halftime break to make it a 43-32 advantage for CSP following the first 20 minutes.

It would be an extremely fast start for CSP to open the second half as they would lead by 22 before a layup by Spencer Swenson (Fr., F, Sauk Rapids, Minn.).

Slowly but surely, the Golden Eagles would try and chip away, getting to within 14 following a Brayden Carlson (So., C, Woodbury, Minn.) layup.

Minnesota Crookston would get as close as 10 late in the game following a three from Brady Westphal (Fr., G, Fargo, N.D.), but the Golden Bears would win by 11.

Washington scored a career-high 24 points on a career-high 10 made field goals, while Lindsey added 16. Swenson was fantastic off the bench, scoring 19 points, tying a career high.

Once again, the Golden Eagles kept the turnovers low, turning it over just five times.

Minnesota Crookston will look for some home cooking next weekend as they host Wayne State College on Friday for a 5:30 PM tip.
