WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The University of Minnesota Crookston men's golf team is in 16th of 20 teams after the opening two rounds of The Mules at Mules National Golf Course in Warrensburg, Mo. The Golden Eagles were 16-over-par in the first round, and 20-over-par in round two in a stacked field of regional opponents.
The Golden Eagles currently are ahead of Rockhurst University, and the University of Central Missouri B Team by four strokes. They lead Rogers State University by six strokes, and Upper Iowa University by 22 strokes.
Holdyn Evjen (So., Hermantown, Minn.) led Minnesota Crookston shooting four-over-par for the day, and is in 26th place. He shot a two-under-par 68 in the opening round. Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) carded a 10-over-par for the first two rounds, including three-over-par in the second round. Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) is 11-over-par for the day. He shot two-over-par in the first round. Jack Justesen (So., Hawley, Minn.) carded a 13-over-par, including four-over-par in the second round. Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) sits 18-over-par for the day.
The University of Central Oklahoma leads the field after two rounds, shooting a 16-over-par for the first two rounds. Baylor Bostick of Central Oklahoma leads the field after carding a six-under-par for the first two rounds.
Minnesota Crookston also had four golfers compete at the Bemidji State Invitational as individuals. Gabe Weller (So., Alexandria, Minn.) shot a 76 (five-over-par) for round one. Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) posted a 77. Ross Koerner (So., Grand Forks, N.D.) shot an 80, while Jaime Martinez Guimon (Fr., Getxo, Spain) finished with a 90.
The Golden Eagles conclude both tournaments Tuesday, September 9.
