Hookset, N.H. – It was an early morning match for the Golden Eagles, as they carried a 2-0 start into a neutral court match with Felician University on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.
Minnesota Crookston would collect an 18-point opening set win, one of their largest in program history and would cruise the rest of the way for their first 3-0 start since 2014, when the Golden Eagles started 6-0.
Set One
The maroon and gold would jump out to a fast start once again. Following her career night,
Madison Carsten (Jr., OH, Wadena, Minn.) would start the morning with a pair of kills, as the Golden Eagles would force a timeout leading 9-2.
Minnesota Crookston would go on to dominate the set, 25-7, their largest set win since 2023 and the biggest victory in a set since at least 2012.
Set Two
Set two would start better for the Golden Falcons, as the set would be tied at six.
From that point on, it would be all Golden Eagles, as they would go on a 3-0 run, with three kills from
Emma Malek (Jr., MH, Plainfield, Ill.),
Dana Melby (R-Jr., S, Gonvick, Minn.) and Carsten.
Carizma Muth (R-So., OH, Randolph, Wis.) would give the Golden Eagles their largest lead of the set up to that point with a kill, making it 18-10.
The Golden Eagles would be more Golden in the set, winning by nine.
Set Three
The Golden Eagles would look for their first sweep of 2025 and in the third set, they would move out to a 5-3 lead, following a kill from
Abigail Ernster (Fr., OH, La Crescent, Minn.)
The Golden Falcons would score three straight, but Malek would put the speed bump on the run with another kill, her fourth of the match.
The set would be tied at 15, but three straight points, capped off by a pair of Carsten kills, would give the Golden Eagles some cushion at 18-15.
A Malek service ace would give the Golden Eagles a 21-17 lead and force a Felician timeout.
The Golden Eagles would close out Felician for the five point win and their first sweep of 2025.

Carsten continued her unbelievable weekend, finishing with 18 kills on 37 total attacks, hitting a career-high .459 in the match, a new career watermark. Muth added eight kills on 14 total attacks, also hitting a career high with a .500 attacking percentage.
