Autumn Rabe

Women's Soccer | 9/24/2025 3:14:00 PM

• THE MINNESOTA CROOKSTON soccer team enters the weekend with a 1-3-1 mark. The Golden Eagles had a close call Friday in a 1-0 loss to Wayne State, and fell 5-1 to Augustana. The Golden Eagles have continued to show marked
improvement as a program. The Golden Eagles have three goals through five games after only scoring four in all of 2024. Minnesota Crookston is tallying 0.60 goals per game, while allowing 2.00 goals per tilt to their foes. They are averaging 5.2 shots per game, compared to 17.4 for their foes.

• AUTUMN IS HERE. The season of Autumn has arrived, as has Autumn Rabe (R-So., MF/F, Kewaskum, Wis.), who scored her first-ever goal at Minnesota Crookston putting a cap off a strong free kick from Riley Edemann (Fr., D, Santa Clarita, Calif.) Sunday against Augustana. Rabe has started two games, with the one goal, and has one shot. She has played 159 minutes after redshirting last season.

• E IS FOR ELISE. Elise Lefers (So., F, Brookings, S.D.) scored a beautiful goal, the first of her career, to help the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 win over the Dragons. Lefers has five shots, with four shots on goal. The sophomore has started two games for Minnesota Crookston at the center forward position. She has played 213 minutes in five games.

• FINCHTASTIC. Julia Finch (Sr., D/MF, Woodbury, Minn.) scored her first career goal against Black Hills State. The goal was the first of her career. Finch is tied for the team goal-lead with Lefers, and Rabe. Finch has two shots, with one on frame. Finch has started four games, and played in all five for the Golden Eagles. She will be a key cog in the wheel for Minnesota Crookston this week.

• NEWCOMERS HELPING OUT. All three assists for the Golden Eagles this season have come from freshman. Riley Edemann (Fr., D, Santa Clarita, Calif.) added the assist last week off a free kick to secure Rabe's goal. Lily Goehring (Fr., MF,
Hartford, S.D.), and Payton King (Fr., GK, Fairfield, Calif.) also have helpers for the U of M Crookston in 2025.

• NEWCOMERS. Minnesota Crookston has several newcomers who have jumped in and made a positive impact through two games. In addition to Phoenix DeBrusk (Fr., GK, Thunder Bay, Ontario) and King in goal, Edemann has started all five games at center back, Goehring has started two games, Aleisha Cortez started three games, Norah Lutz a transfer from Aquinas College has started three games in the back line for the Golden Eagles.

• SETTING THE TONE. Minnesota Crookston captains Tessa VanOverbeke (Jr., D/MF, Hartford, S.D.), Emmah Burnes (Jr., MF, Tulare, Calif.), and Sarah Burgum (Sr., F, Mandan, N.D.) all have vast amounts of experience and are trying to set the tone for a young Golden Eagle squad. VanOverbeke, and Burnes have each started all five games, VanOverbeke as an outside back, and Burnes as a defensive midfielder. Burgum has started three games, and has six shots, with four on goal during the 2025 slate.

• NEW ERA. Minnesota Crookston is in a new era of soccer with Head Coach Danny Burstein. Burstein is five games into his time as head coach for the Golden Eagles. Burstein has been an experienced coach. He is coming off a year as an assistant coach at the University of Nevada. He previously spent three seasons at North Dakota. Burstein was the head men's soccer coach in 2020 for the University of Providence in Montana. He has also been an assistant at the University of Providence, and Adams State University. Burstein earned his first win as the Golden Eagle boss last weekend against the Dragons.

• ON THE ROAD AGAIN. The Golden Eagles go back on the road as they are set to play against Sioux Falls, and Southwest Minnesota State. Minnesota Crookston picked up a 2-1 win over USF on September 26, 2024 in Sioux Falls. The now graduated Brooklyn Fischbach recorded both goals for the Golden Eagles. Minnesota Crookston is 4-6-2 against the Cougars since the series began in 2012. The Golden Eagles have a seven-game losing streak against the Mustangs. Minnesota Crookston last defeated SMSU October 23, 2016 with a 1-0 win in Crookston.

• SIOUX FALLS. The Cougars have a new era in Sioux Falls. They are in their first season under Head Coach Joe DeMay. Sioux Falls enters the weekend with a 2-3 (0-2 NSIC) record. The Cougars lost to Minnesota Duluth, and Bemidji State last weekend. USF is averaging 0.80 goals per game, while allowing 1.60 per game to their foes. They are tallying 7.4 shots per game, compared to 9.2 for their foes.

• THE AGE OF ADDISON. Addison Van Zee has been the key offensive player for the Cougars through five games. She enters the weekend with two goals, and leads the team with 10 shots, and four shots on goal. Van Zee is a 5-7 sophomore from Ham Lake, Minn.

• SHE IS A DUERR. Emma Duerr, a senior forward, tallied a goal for the Cougars against Mount Marty. Duerr has one start, and has three goals, and three shots on goal. Duerr has played in four games this season.

• MORGAN IN THE NET. Morgan Jost has been strong in goal for USF with a 1.60 goals against average, with 12 saves, and eight goals allowed. Jost has a .600 saves percentage entering Friday.

• SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE. Southwest Minnesota State comes into the weekend with a 1-4 mark. The Mustangs fell 3-1 to Bemidji State, and 2-0 to Minnesota Duluth last weekend. They are in their fourth season under Head Coach Clay Glasgow. The Mustangs have a potent offense, averaging 1.4 goals per game, while allowing 1.8 to their foes. They are tallying 11.4 shots per game, while giving up 12.8 per game to their foes.

• MEET VIRGINIA. Virginia Pruitt leads the Mustang attack heading into the weekend with two goals, and an assist. She has six shots, and five shots on goal. Pruitt has started four games, and played in five for Southwest Minnesota State.

• WATCH OUT FOR WETTERSTROM. Brooke Wetterstrom comes into the weekend with two goals, and leads the team with 11 shots entering the weekend. She has five shots on goal for the Mustangs.
