Minnesota Crookston Trap Remains in Second after Week Two of Spring Slate

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston trap team is in second place in 1A-Conference 6 in the USA College Clay Target League after the second week of the spring season. Minnesota Crookston shot a round of 612.50 for an overall season score of 1,248.50. They currently trail Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, who has 1,500 points. They are ahead of Alfred State College, Williston State College, and Maine Maritime Academy.

Jayden Bergerson (Jr., Gully, Minn.) led the way for Minnesota Crookston with a 50-straight in week two. Ethan Benedict (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.), and Bergerson each shot 25 straight in the second week. Ellen Payne (Sr., St. Louis Park, Minn.) is tied for sixth among female shooters in the entire USA College Clay Target League with an average of 23.25, while Heather Kaup (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) is tied for eighth with a 23.00 average. 

Benedict is tied for third among males in Conference 6 with an average of 23.75, while Codey Wolff (Jr., Wadena, Minn.) is tied for seventh with a 23.25 average. Payne is currently fourth for female shooters in the conference with a 23.25 average, while Kaup is fourth with a 23.00 average. Gracie Lunsetter (Sr., Gatzke, Minn.) is in sixth in the conference with a 22.25 average, while Sydney Huwe (Sr., Carver, Minn.) is in ninth with a 21.75 average.

Benedict led the way hitting 50-of-50 targets, for a remarkable week two. Benedict went 49-of-50 for the Golden Eagles. Payne connected on 48-of-50 attempts. Eli Devore (Fr., Park Rapids, Minn.) hit 47-of-50, as did Kallen Littler (Fr., Bemidji, Minn.). Braxton Qual (So., Mahnomen, Minn.) connected on 46-of-50, as did Lucas Wavra (Fr., East Grand Forks, Minn.). Kaup, Lunsetter, and Hunter Pierson (Jr., Saint Hilaire, Minn.) went 45-of-50. Wolff, and Garrison Worthen (Fr., Prior Lake, Minn.) hit 44-of-50 clay pigeons. Louis Siegel connected on 42-of-50 targets. Austin Hughes (Fr., New York Mills, Minn.), Huwe, Mallory Kowalke (So., Nevis, Minn.), and Mackenzie Ondrush (So., Climax, Minn.) were 41-of-50, while Rebecca Morstad (Fr., Cavalier, N.D.) was 40-of-50. 

The Golden Eagles are currently in week three of the spring season for trap.
