Bemidji, Minn. – Bemidji State was red-hot in the first half, shooting a staggering 70 percent from the field, including 9-13 from long range, propelling the Beavers to a comfortable 83-68 win over the Golden Eagles on Tuesday night, in Bemidji.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 5-18 (4-13 NSIC).
The Beavers shot lights out from the beginning of the game, jumping out to a quick 5-2 lead, but
Reid Grant (Sr., G, Johnston, Iowa) would connect on a straightaway three to tie the game at five.
The Beavers would take a 14-9 lead, but back-to-back jumpers from Grant and
Aguek Deng (R-Sr., F, Des Moines, Iowa) would cut the Beaver lead to one at 14-13.
Trailing by six,
Brayden Carlson (Fr., C, Woodbury, Minn.) would finish a tough layup on the fast break to cut the lead to 19-15. It would be the start of a career-high 12 points for the standout freshman.
BSU would ultimately extend their lead to 40-23, but Grant would connect on a jumper to halt the Beaver run.
BSU's red-hot shooting would give them a 22 point lead at the break.
The second half would see the Golden Eagles try and chip away, but the Beavers would prove to be too much in the 15 point win.
Andrew Stokes (Jr., F, Westchester, Ill.) continued his outstanding play, scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
Micah Garrett (Jr., G, Portland, Ore.) added 13 points, while Grant added 10. A pair of freshmen were good off the bench, as Carlson finished with 12 points and pulled down five rebounds, while
Hunter Lorenson (Fr., G, Lake City, Minn.) scored a career-high six points in nine minutes.

Minnesota Crookston is back in action on Thursday night, as they host Northern State at 5:30 P.M. The Golden Eagles will look for their first season sweep of the Wolves in program history.
