Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagle Hockey Team is heading to La Crosse, Wisconsin for the Central Regional Tournament where their first round matchup is with the Adrian College Bulldogs. This will be the first matchup between the two teams in program history.
This will be the third straight Regionals appearance for the Golden Eagles, where they have a 1-2-0 record. Last season ended with a 3-2 loss against Maryville University. In 2022-2023, the Golden Eagles beat Michigan State 3-1 before falling to the University of Iowa 8-5. This year, the Golden Eagles are ranked 10th in the region, which is the lowest seed they have entered Regionals at.
The Golden Eagles Player to Watch for Friday's matchup with Adrian College is Tristan Morneault (Sr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) who enters Friday mornings contest with four goals and 13 assists for 17 points in 18 games. Morneault has been a major part of the Golden Eagles offense, with his speed playing a big part in the production jump from the middle six forward lines. Morneault is no stranger to Regionals, having played in all three of the Golden Eagles Regional games, he has scored three goals in three games, with two in the 8-5 loss to the University of Iowa.
Regionals is a single elimination tournament, if the Golden Eagles defeat the Bulldogs on Friday then they will get the chance to play one of the teams seeded 3-6 in the Region. Puck drop is set for 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 21st.
