Minnesota Crookston Struggles from the Field in Loss to Marauders

Bismarck, N.D. -- The state capital of North Dakota wasn't kind to Minnesota Crookston men's basketball, as they shot just 25 percent from the field in a 79-54 loss to the University of Mary on Wednesday night.

Minnesota Crookston falls to 1-8 on the season.

It looked like it was going to be a great shooting night for the Golden Eagles, as Donez Lindsey (Fr., G, Los Angeles, Calif.) would take and make the first three of the night for the Golden Eagles. Following that three, they would make just two of their next 23 attempts from deep.

Spencer Swenson (Fr., F, Sauk Rapids, Minn.) would give the Golden Eagles a 5-3 lead early on in the first half.

UMary would go on a 15-1 run and take a 20-8 lead, but Quincy Everson (Fr., G, Goodyear, Minn.) would cash in on a midrange jumper to cut the lead in half.

The Marauders would take a 33-18 lead into the halftime break, which would be an extended break, due to a fire alarm that went off in the MAC.

In the second half, UMary would see their deficit get cut to 11, following a Swenson putback early in the second half, but that was as close as the Golden Eagles would get, as UMary would pull away for the decisive victory.

Kazadi Mukoma, Jr., (Jr., F, Grand Island, Neb.) led the way with 10 points and five rebounds, while Lindsey finished with nine points and four assists. Everson and Landon Dimler (Fr., F, Mankato, Minn.) finished with seven points apiece. Owen Chervestad (Fr., G, Oklee, Minn.) scored the first two points of his young Golden Eagle career.

Minnesota Crookston will head to Minot to take on the Beavers of Minot State for a 3:30 P.M., tip from the Minot State Dome.
