Big Second Half Leads Huskies to Double-Digit Win Despite Swenson's Career Night

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State outscored Minnesota Crookston by 13 in the second half, defeating Minnesota Crookston 85-66 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's basketball action.
 
Minnesota Crookston falls to 1-5 on the season.
 
SCSU would start the scoring with the first five points, but Alijah Washington (R-Jr., G, San Jose, Calif.) would connect on a three.
 
Moments later, Kazadi Mukoma, Jr. (Jr., F, Grand Island, Neb.) and Donez Lindsey (Fr., G, Stockton, Calif.) would give the Golden Eagles a one point lead on a three and a layup in the paint.
 
Caiden Swenby (So., G, Fertile, Minn.) and Quincy Everson (Fr., G, Goodyear, Minn.) would connect on four free throws to give the Golden Eagles a 21-20 lead.
 
The Huskies would answer with 12 straight points, but freshmen Spencer Swenson (Fr., F, Sauk Rapids, Minn.) and Lindsey would get the deficit back down to just six at 32-26.
 
A pair of late Swenson free throws to end the half would get the Golden Eagles within a touchdown after the first 20, 40-34.
 
It would be a great start coming out of the half for the maroon and gold, as they would get two straight threes from Swenson and Mukoma, Jr., and would trail by just four at 44-40.
 
Later in the game, SCSU would take a 62-50 lead, but the breakout game for Swenson would continue, as he would score four straight to cut the Huskies lead to just eight at 62-54.
 
SCSU would pull away for the 19 point win.
 
Swenson had a career day near his hometown, finishing with 20 points on 6-9 shooting from the field, while also going 7-8 at the charity stripe and pulling down five boards. Lindsey had his fifth straight game in double-figures, scoring 15 points and dishing out three assists. Washington and Mukoma, Jr., combined for 15 points.
 
What's Next
Minnesota Crookston will get back to conference play on Wednesday, as they head to Duluth for a date with the Bulldogs on Wednesday night for a 5:30 P.M. tip.
