Golden Eagle Women's Cross Country Heads to Iowa for the Defender Classic

Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles are heading to Sioux Center, Iowa to wrap up their regular season in the Defender Classic. This will be the second appearance at the Defender Classic in program history, with the group finishing fifth out of 10 competing programs in 2024. This has been an incredible start for the program in 2025, finishing fourth out of 26 at the Augustana Twilight, 11th out of 21 at the Roy Griak Invitational, and 12th out of 36 at the BluGold Invitational. 

Morgan Shaw (Jr., Redmond, Ore.) has been on a roll to start the year, she has finished 27th at the Augustana Twilight, 39th at the Roy Griak Invitational, and 20th at the BluGold Invitational. Natalie Wood (R-So., Big Timber, Mont.) has also had top 50 finishes at each of the three meets, finishing 40th at the Augustana Twilight, 46th at the Roy Griak Invitational, and 42nd at the BluGold Invitational. Madison Hilliard (Sr., Jacksonville, N.C.)  has had three top 60 finishes this year, finishing 36th at the Augustana Twilight, 44th at the Roy Griak Invitational, and 58th at the BluGold Invitational.

Following the conclusion of the Defender Classic, which will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, the Golden Eagles will have the next 13 days to prepare for their next meet, which will be the NSIC Championship on October 24th at 1:15 p.m. in Wayne, Nebraska.
