• THE MINNESOTA CROOKSTON soccer team comes into the weekend with a 1-10-2 (0-9-1 NSIC). The record can be deceiving though, as the Golden Eagles have been very competitive in recent weeks including five one-goal losses, a tie, and a 2-0 loss. In the seven-game stretch Minnesota Crookston has competed against four top-10 teams in the conference. The Golden Eagles are looking to finish strong in their final five games. They welcome two of the top three teams in the conference this weekend with No. 2 nationally ranked Minnesota State, and St. Cloud State. The Golden Eagles have been defensively strong, but are looking to find the back of the net. Minnesota Crookston is averaging 0.22 goals per game, and allowing 2.39 goals per foe. In their last seven games though they are allowing just one goals per game. The Golden Eagles are notching 6.9 shots per game, compared to 18.3 for their opponents.

• AGAINST BOTH SQUADS. Minnesota Crookston is 0-16 all-time against Minnesota State. The closest game in the last 10-11 years came September 27, 2015 with a 2-0 loss in Crookston. The Golden Eagles lost the last two meetings 4-0. Minnesota Crookston is 0-20-1 all-time against the Huskies. They tied 0-0 October 27, 2017 in St. Cloud. They lost just 1-0 in Crookston in 2018, and 2-0 in St. Cloud in 2019.

• METZ WITH THE MITS. Jordan Metz (So., GK, Lino Lakes, Minn.) has stepped into goal as the starter recently, with four starts and five games played. Metz has a 1.78 goals against average, 46 saves, and an .852 saves percentage. Metz had a strong game against Minnesota Duluth with 13 saves, and a late goal allowed to the Bulldogs. Metz notched 14 saves, and just one goal allowed versus Concordia-St. Paul. Metz was the main starter in net as a freshman in 2024.

• AUTUMN IS HERE. The season of Autumn has arrived, as has Autumn Rabe (R-So., MF/F, Kewaskum, Wis.), who scored her first-ever goal at Minnesota Crookston putting a cap off a strong free kick from Riley Edemann (Fr., D, Santa Clarita, Calif.) against Augustana. Rabe has seven starts, and 12 games played. She had four shots, and three shots on goal for the 2025 season.

• E IS FOR ELISE. Elise Lefers (So., F, Brookings, S.D.) scored a beautiful goal, the first of her career, to help the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 win over the Dragons. Lefers has nine shots, with six on frame. The sophomore has started three games, with 13 games played. She has been a key offensive player this season for Minnesota Crookston.

• FINCHTASTIC. Julia Finch (Sr., D/MF, Woodbury, Minn.) scored her first career goal against Black Hills State. The goal was the first of her career. Finch is tied for the team goal-lead with Lefers, and Rabe. Finch has four shots, with two on frame. Finch has started 13 games played, and 12 starts. Finch is playing her senior weekend for the Golden Eagles.

• NEWCOMERS HELPING OUT. All three assists for the Golden Eagles this season have come from freshman. Riley Edemann (Fr., D, Santa Clarita, Calif.) added the assist last week off a free kick to secure Rabe's goal. Lily Goehring (Fr., MF,
Hartford, S.D.), and Payton King (Fr., GK, Fairfield, Calif.) also have helpers for the U of M Crookston in 2025.

• SENIOR DAY. Minnesota Crookston will honor three seniors who will be playing their final home weekend for the
Golden Eagles. They will have one remaining home game Thursday, November 6. Julia Finch (Woodbury, Minn.), Emma Dudycha (Austin, Minn.), and Sarah Burgum (Mandan, N.D.) are all seniors for the Golden Eagles. Finch has played in 65 games, with 57 starts in her career with a goal, and an assist. Dudycha has been a two-year member of the team after making the move over from the women's basketball team. She has played in 12 games in her career. Burgum has been a four-year member of the squad, and a captain. She has played in 66 games, with 39 starts. Burgum has three goals, and two assists in her career.

• SETTING THE TONE. Minnesota Crookston captains Tessa VanOverbeke (Jr., D/MF, Hartford, S.D.), Emmah Burnes (Jr., MF, Tulare, Calif.), and Sarah Burgum (Sr., F, Mandan, N.D.) all have vast amounts of experience and are trying to set the tone for a young Golden Eagle squad. All three have been mainstays in the lineup this season. Burgum has 10 starts, with a team-high 17 shots. Burnes has started all 132 games, and played over 1,000 minutes with four shots. VanOverbeke has started all 13 games, with over 1,000 minutes played, and three shots.

• NEW ERA. Minnesota Crookston is in a new era of soccer with Head Coach Danny Burstein. Burstein is five games into his time as head coach for the Golden Eagles. Burstein has been an experienced coach. He is coming off a year as an assistant coach at the University of Nevada. He previously spent three seasons at North Dakota. Burstein was the head men's soccer coach in 2020 for the University of Providence in Montana. He has also been an assistant at the University of Providence, and Adams State University. Burstein earned his first win as head coach against MSU Moorhead earlier this season.

• MINNESOTA STATE. Minnesota State comes in ranked #2 in the nation. The Mavericks are 11-0-2 (9-0-1 NSIC). They have yet to suffer a loss, but had a 2-2 tie with Bemidji State, and a 0-0 tie with Central Oklahoma. The Mavericks made it to the NCAA Division II Championship Game in 2024, falling 2-1 to Cal Poly Pomona. They come in averaging 2.15 goals per game, and are allowing just 0.15 goals per tilt to their foes. They are averaging 17.5 shots per game, and giving up just 8.9 to their opponents.

• BRICK WALL. Opponents have not been able to find the back of the net much against Lauren McAlpine in net. She has started all 13 games, and has an impressive 0.15 goals against average, and .953 saves percentage. She has allowed just two goals this season, and has 12 shutouts.

• MAKING IT WITH MARIN. Marin Johnson has been an important player off the bench for the Mavericks. She leads the team with 13 points, with five goals, and three assists but has yet to make a start in 12 games played. Johnson has 11 shots, with nine shots on goal as a sophomore for Minnesota State.

• ST. CLOUD STATE. St. Cloud State comes into the weekend with a 8-1-4 (6-1-3 NSIC) mark. They are currently third in the conference standings. The Huskies are coming off a 1-1 tie with Concordia-St. Paul. St. Cloud State is notching 1.54 goals per game, and allowing 0.54 to their foes. They are notching 15.5 shots per game, compared to 7.8 for their opponents.

• IT'S A TRAP...INO. Lindsey Trapino has had a great season for the Huskies with a team-high 13 points. She enters the weekend with five goals, and three helpers. Trapino has a team-high 50 shots, with 27 shots on goal. She will be a key player this weekend.

• STRICKLY STRICKLAND. Jaylee Strickland has been strong in goal, with a 0.55 goals against average. She has played in all 13 games, with a .860 saves percentage. She has allowed just seven goals this season, and has been difficult to score against.
