Golden Eagle volleyball is back home this week for the start of a three-match homestand, starting with MSU Moorhead on Tuesday night. All travel partners in the NSIC will play on Tuesday night. Minnesota Crookston is looking for some revenge over the Dragons this Tuesday, as MSUM defeated Minnesota Crookston in four sets earlier this year in Moorhead.
·
HISTORIC MATCH. The adage is big time players make big time plays in big time games. That's exactly what
Madison Carsten did against nationally ranked Minnesota Duluth last Thursday night. Carsten finished with a career watermark of 26 kills on 74 total attacks, which also was a career high. Carsten was just three kills shy of the school record for kills in a match and four away from breaking the school record. Carsten has double-digit kills in six straight matches and 10 double-doubles on the season, which is also a career high.
·
PUT A SCARE IN 'EM. Minnesota Crookston was oh so close to pulling off a massive upset on Thursday night against No. 17 Minnesota Duluth. The win would've been their largest win in program history and would've sent shockwaves throughout the nation. Unfortunately, being close only counts in horseshoes. However, if the Golden Eagles play like that throughout the rest of the season, they should like their chances to get a win or two in the NSIC.
·
DO-IT-ALL. It was a weekend of 'what-ifs' for the Golden Eagles this past weekend. One player who did everything for them was redshirt sophomore
Carizma Muth. Muth combined for 25 kills and 40 digs through two matches, which was a career-high through two matches for the Wisconsin native. Muth finished with a career best 21 digs against Minnesota Duluth. Earlier this year against the Dragons, Muth added 10 kills and 17 digs for one of her seven double doubles on the year.
·
DYNAMIC DUO. Madison Carsten and
Carizma Muth have been outstanding offensively for the Golden Eagles. The duo have combined for over 7.5 points per set, which is the most by a Golden Eagle duo in over 15 years.
Series Look vs the Dragons
MSUM is 34-4 against the Golden Eagles all-time and 16-3 in Crookston.

MSU MOORHEAD. The Dragons are currently over .500 on the season and sit at 6-5 in the NSIC. MSUM has won three out of their last four matches, with their last loss coming in a three-set match to Minnesota Duluth on the road. The fight to the NSIC tournament begins now for the Dragons.
OFFENSIVE OUTPUT. The last time these two teams met, it was the Dragons who used balance to win the match. MSUM had four attackers finish with 13 or more digs in the match, led by Maci Martini and Raiah Mandell, who finished with 14 digs apiece. The Golden Eagles will look to be better at the net on Tuesday against their travel partner.
RUN OF EFFICIENCY. In the last match with the Golden Eagles, MSUM hit .253 in four sets against the maroon and gold, which was the end of a run where the Dragons had eight matches when they hit higher than .240 as a team and had two matches in that run where they had an attacking percentage of over .400. As of late, the Dragons have had an attacking percentage of over .200 in five of their last six matches.
