• THE MINNESOTA CROOKSTON soccer team enters the weekend with a 1-5-1 mark. The Golden Eagles have an important Homecoming weekend as they face-off against the two teams right next to them in the standings. Jamestown is in their first season in the NSIC, and NCAA Division II and is 0-6 (0-4 NSIC), while Northern State is 0-6-1 (0-3-1 NSIC) coming into the weekend. Minnesota Crookston takes on Jamestown at 3 p.m. Friday, and Northern State Sunday at 1 p.m. The Golden Eagles are averaging 0.43 goals per game, while allowing 2.14 goals per tilt. They average 5.7 shots per game, and have allowed 17.0 shots per tilt to their foes.
• AGAINST BOTH SQUADS. Minnesota Crookston is 2-8 all-time against the Jimmies. They last earned a win 1-0 over Jamestown in 2003. The two squads tied 1-1 in 2009. Friday's game marks the first game since both have been NCAA Division II. The Golden Eagles are looking to snap an eight-game losing streak with the Wolves. Minnesota Crookston's last victory came in 2015 in Aberdeen with a 2-1 win. The Golden Eagles went 4-0-1 in a five-game stretch from 2011-15.
• AUTUMN IS HERE. The season of Autumn has arrived, as has
Autumn Rabe (R-So., MF/F, Kewaskum, Wis.), who scored her first-ever goal at Minnesota Crookston putting a cap off a strong free kick from
Riley Edemann (Fr., D, Santa Clarita, Calif.) against Augustana. Rabe has started four games, with one goal, 1 shot, and 236 minutes played.
• E IS FOR ELISE.
Elise Lefers (So., F, Brookings, S.D.) scored a beautiful goal, the first of her career, to help the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 win over the Dragons. Lefers has six shots, with five on frame. The sophomore has started two games for
Minnesota Crookston at the center forward position. She has played 297 minutes in five games.
• FINCHTASTIC.
Julia Finch (Sr., D/MF, Woodbury, Minn.) scored her first career goal against Black Hills State. The goal was the first of her career. Finch is tied for the team goal-lead with Lefers, and Rabe. Finch has two shots, with one on frame. Finch has started six games, and played in all seven for the Golden Eagles. She will be a key cog in the wheel for Minnesota Crookston this week.
• NEWCOMERS HELPING OUT. All three assists for the Golden Eagles this season have come from freshman.
Riley Edemann (Fr., D, Santa Clarita, Calif.) added the assist last week off a free kick to secure Rabe's goal. Lily Goehring (Fr., MF,
Hartford, S.D.), and
Payton King (Fr., GK, Fairfield, Calif.) also have helpers for the U of M Crookston in 2025.
• NEWCOMERS. Minnesota Crookston has several newcomers who have jumped in and made a positive impact through two games. In addition to
Phoenix DeBrusk (Fr., GK, Thunder Bay, Ontario) and King in goal, Edemann has started all five games at center back, Goehring has started two games,
Aleisha Cortez started three games,
Norah Lutz a transfer from Aquinas College has started three games in the back line for the Golden Eagles.
• SETTING THE TONE. Minnesota Crookston captains
Tessa VanOverbeke (Jr., D/MF, Hartford, S.D.),
Emmah Burnes (Jr., MF, Tulare, Calif.), and
Sarah Burgum (Sr., F, Mandan, N.D.) all have vast amounts of experience and are trying to set the tone for a young Golden Eagle squad. VanOverbeke, and Burnes have each started all five games, VanOverbeke as an outside back, and Burnes as a defensive midfielder. Burgum has started three games, and has six shots, with four on goal during the 2025 slate.
• NEW ERA. Minnesota Crookston is in a new era of soccer with Head Coach
Danny Burstein. Burstein is five games into his time as head coach for the Golden Eagles. Burstein has been an experienced coach. He is coming off a year as an assistant coach at the University of Nevada. He previously spent three seasons at North Dakota. Burstein was the head men's soccer coach in 2020 for the University of Providence in Montana. He has also been an assistant at the University of Providence, and Adams State University. Burstein earned his first win as the Golden Eagle boss last weekend against the Dragons.
• BACK AT HOME. The Golden Eagles play two at home for Homecoming against Jamestown and Northern State. Minnesota Crookston is 0-3 at home in 2025 with losses to Wayne State, Augustana, and Black Hills State. Minnesota Crookston last earned a home win 2-1 against Upper Iowa October 7, 2022.
• JAMESTOWN. Jamestown is 0-6 in their first season in the NSIC. The Jimmies are coached by Nick Becker. Jamestown is tallying 0.33 goals per game, and allowing 2.50 goals per tilt to their foes. They are averaging 5.2 shots per game, and 20.0 shots per foe. Their closest loss came September 7 at Westminster University in a 2-1 loss.
• WATCH IT GROW. Langley Grow, a 5-10 defender from Colorado Springs, Colo., guides the Jimmies with one of their two goals this season. Grow has started five games and has shot coming into this weekend.
• ABRIANNA FINDING THE NET. Abrianna Madill has started two games, and played in all six. She has the squad's other goal this season for Jamestown. Madrill is a sophomore midfielder from Esko, Minn.
• TOUCH THE SKY. Skylar Lind has started all six games in goal for Jamestown. She enters Friday with a 2.50 goals against average, 43 saves, and a .741 saves percentage. Lind is a freshman from Anchorage, Alaska.

The Wolves come in averaging 5.6 shots per game, while allowing 17.6 to their foes. They had a 1-1 tie with Winona State earlier this season, for their one positive result.
• GET FUNKY. Savannah Funk comes in with a goal, and an assist for Northern State. The freshman midfielder from Pleasant View, Utah has made an immediate impact. She has two shots on goal.
• JUST DO IT, JAYLEE. Jaylee Hofer has also accounted for a goal, and an assist. She has four shots in 2025. Hofer is a sophomore forward from Sioux Falls, S.D.
• A SPOONFUL OF SUGAR. Okay, okay, this isn't Mary Poppins but it is Kailyn Poppen. She comes with a goal, and an assist for Northern State. Poppen is a sophomore midfielder representing her hometown Northern State Wolves.
