Rugby, N.D. - The Golden Eagles return to the ice to finish out their series with the Lumberjacks. In net for the University of Minnesota Crookston was Adam Goody (So., G, Airdrie, Alberta) who entered the game with a 5-3-0 record, a 2.89 save percentage, and a .897 goals against average. For the Lumberjacks, Rylan Labrie would remain in net.

The Lumberjacks got on the board first, and almost immediately, as Logan Mantell found twine. It only took six minutes for the Golden Eagles to find themselves trailing by two, with Jacob Measel potting a goal of his own. The Golden Eagles would not remain down by two for long, as Fox Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) picked up his third goal of the weekend, and his 16th of the season. Aiden Morelli (Jr., F, Minot, N.D.) and Zach Larson (Sr., D, Grand Forks, N.D.) added on assists. Exactly five minutes later, the Golden Eagles and Lumberjacks found themselves in a tie game, with Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) netting his team leading 21st goal of the season, it was Anthony Foster (So., F, Warroad, Minn.) and Fox Dodds providing the helpers on the tying goal. The two would head to intermission knotted at two.

The Lumberjacks were once again the first team to score in the period, as Ethan Unger regained the lead. Two minutes passed, and Fox Dodds once again found the back of the net to even the score at three, Anthony Foster and Alexander Bailey (R-Jr., D, Crosby, N.D.) assisted on the score. This period, unlike the first, would not end in a tie. Zach Larson, with just 5:27 left in the second period, would give the Golden Eagles their first lead of the afternoon. Dalston Kelly (So., F, Grafton, N.D.) had the lone assist.

The third period was a slug fest. Each team would wind up with three penalties, and a flurry of shots. Both goalies were standing tall and stopping everything coming their way. The two teams were battling until the final horn, with the Lumberjacks in desperation mode searching for the tying goal. With just 53 seconds left on the clock, they would get just that. Carter Ralston scored to bring us to a 4-4 game, and send the game into overtime.

The Golden Eagles and Lumberjacks took the ice for overtime, both searching for the last goal to take the win. It did not take very long, as Tyler Lorenz (Fr., D, Shakopee, Minn.) found the back of the net, and the Golden Eagles would return to Crookston with another season sweep. Anthony Foster and Mason Romfo notched the assists.

The Golden Eagles are fresh off of a 5-4 overtime win and will return to the ice Friday, January 17th, at 7 p.m. as they face off with the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
