DAVENPORT, Fla. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team was lifted by a two-run home run from Teddy Giefer (Sr., 1B, Courtland, Minn.), as they defeated Wayne State University 6-3 at NorthEast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla.

The Golden Eagles improved to 7-8 (3-5 NSIC) with Tuesday's non-conference victory. Minnesota Crookston improved to 5-3 during their Florida trip. Wayne State dropped to 9-6 with the loss.

Isaac Wensloff (So., RHP, Roseau, Minn.) earned the win in his first career start for the Golden Eagles. Wensloff tossed six innings, allowing just three runs on five hits. He had seven strikeouts, and no walks. Caden Edwards (R-Jr., LHP, Duluth, Minn.) earned his first career save, allowing no runs in one inning. Isaac Roers (R-So., RHP, Stacy, Minn.), Nate Grafsgaard (Sr., RHP, Devils Lake, N.D.), and Jacob Mathiason (Jr., RHP, Rockford, Minn.) all had effective relief outings in between Wensloff and Edwards.

The Golden Eagles finished with five hits. Giefer continued his strong season, going 1-of-4, with three RBIs, and a run scored. Giefer is hitting .431, with three home runs, and a team-high 24 RBIs. Danny Wensloff (Sr., OF/C, Roseau, Minn.) went 2-of-5, with a run scored. Sawyer Satrom (R-So., IF, Portland, N.D.) finished 1-of-3, with a run scored. Mitch Goodwin (R-Sr., SS, Prior Lake, Minn.) was 1-of-3, with an RBI.

The loss for the Warriors went to Ashton Potts, who allowed two earned runs on three hits in 3.1 innings. David Thurman, and Gabe Nazelli each gave up runs out of the bullpen.

Minnesota Crookston took an early 1-0 lead in the second frame with an Aaron Wensloff (Fr., IF, Roseau, Minn.) sacrifice fly to plate his cousin Danny Wensloff. The three Wensloffs made their first career starts together. Aaron and Isaac are brothers, while Danny is their cousin.Â

The Golden Eagles widened the gap to 2-0 with a Goodwin single to plate Cole Hebl (Fr., 1B, Hillsboro, N.D.).Â

Minnesota Crookston extended the lead to 4-0 in the third with Giefer's third home run of the season, plating himself, and Headlee.

The Warriors cut the deficit to 4-1 in the third when Owen Tuccinardi hit a sacrifice fly to score Jacoby Dale.

The Golden Eagles pushed their advantage to 5-1 in the fifth with Giefer's third RBI of the day, coming on a sacrifice fly to plate Caden Headlee (R-Jr., OF, Fargo, N.D.).

Wayne State trimmed the deficit to 5-2 in the fifth with a Logan Tobel double, scoring Dale. The Warriors cut the Golden Eagle lead to 5-3 later in the inning when Tuccinardi scored on a balk.

Minnesota Crookston got the run back in the eighth when Headlee walked with the bases loaded, plating Satrom.
