SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team suffered their first loss of 2024 with a 6-1 loss to the University of Sioux Falls at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Golden Eagles dropped to 5-1 (2-1 NSIC) with Friday's loss. Sioux Falls improved to 2-1 (1-1 NSIC) with the win.
Madeleine Schneider (Sr., Gartringen, Germany) improved to 6-0 and became the program's all-time winningest singles player with a 6-7, 6-4, 10-7 victory over Talia Janos. At the No. 3 doubles slot, Kavya Singh (Jr., Agra, India) and Nadia Cases Mundet (Fr., Barcelona, Spain) improved to 4-0 with a 6-4 win over Danielle Thorfinnson and Katelyn Nesheim.
At No. 1 doubles, Daniela de Lucas Rivera (Fr., Madrid, Spain) and Ariadna Solis Guals (Fr., Santpedor, Spain) fell 6-2 to Janos and Chloe Siegfort. The pair is 3-2 this season. At the No. 2 slot, Schneider and Blaike Zander (Jr., Bismarck, N.D.) were defeated 6-3 by Sydney Osburn and Ella Hancock. Schneider and Zander are 5-1 this season.
Singh took Nesheim to three sets at No. 6 singles, but fell 3-6, 6-3, 7-10. At No. 2 singles, De Lucas Rivera was defeated 6-4, 6-2 by Siegfort. The loss was her first single loss of the season. At the No. 3 singles spot, Solis Guals was upended 1-6, 6-7 by Thorfinnson. At the No. 4 spot, Zander fell 2-6, 4-6 to Osburn. At the No. 5 slot, Cases Mundet fell 2-6, 3-6 to Hancock.
Minnesota Crookston returns to action at 7 p.m., against Augustana University.
