The WCCHA has announced the Individual Conference Awards for the 2023-2024 season and Steve Johnson has been named the WCCHA Coach of the Year. Steve Johnson is in his fourth year as the head coach of the Golden Eagles and has led the program to a better season in the last every year. Johnson led the team to a record of 25-4-2 this season and a 10-2 conference record. The team was tied for first in the WCCHA Northwest Division and finished second at the WCCHA Conference Tournament. Johnson also has the Golden Eagles ranked #5 in the Central Regional Rankings, which is the team's highest ranking in program history.

This is Steve Johnson's first time winning the WCCHA Coach of the Year Award.
