Golden Eagles Dominate Final Regular Season

Williston, N.D. - The Golden Eagles are set for their final regular season game as they take on the Tetons. The Golden Eagles would look to Adam Goody (Fr., G, Airdrie, Alberta) and the Tetons would start Shae Martin for a second straight game. 

 

The Golden Eagles would not take long to get the ball rolling. Logan Syrup (Jr., F, Park River, N.D.) would win a shorthanded faceoff to Gunner Ferrier (Sr., D, Baudette, Minn.) would flip the puck out to the neutral zone. From there, Jackson Fuller (Jr., F, Bloomington, Minn.) would collect it and flip one into the net on the breakaway to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. With 1:33 left in the opening frame, Connor Thoennes (So., F, Coleraine, Minn.) would enter the offensive zone and get a chance on net, he would then flip the puck away from a Tetons defender right onto the stick of Anthony Foster (Fr., F, Warroad, Minn.) who would rifle one past the glove of Martin. The Golden Eagles entered the second period with a 2-0 lead. 

 

Just 35 seconds into the second period, Logan Syrup would find the back of the net, he was assisted by Tyler Zaharadka (Sr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) and Aidan McPhee (Fr., D, Brea, Calif.) and it was quickly 3-0. Exactly two minutes later, Nathan Ayotte (Fr., F, St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba) would bang home a rebound, with Dylan Neubauer (Sr., D, Grand Forks, N.D.) and Logan Syrup collecting assists. With 8:25 remaining, Jackson Fuller would snap one past Martin to make it 5-0, he was assisted by Tyler Zahradka and Gunner Ferrier. Just a minute and a half later, Tristan Morneault (Sr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) would slide a rebound through the legs of Martin as Jake Huska (Sr., D, Preeceville, Saskatchewan) and Logan Syrup would collect assists. 15 seconds later, Anthony Foster would knock in his second of the game, with Tristan Morneault and Dylan Neubauer collecting assists. It was suddenly 7-0 Golden Eagles. The score would remain the same for the rest of the second. 

 

With 9:35 to play, Fox Dodds (Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) scored against his former team to make it 8-0. Anthony Foster and Steven Musokranov (Fr., D, Plymouth, Minn.) would add on the assists. Exactly one minute later, Drysten Bailey would net one on the breakaway to make it 8-1. With just 2:32 remaining, the puck would squeak out of a crowd of players and find the stick of Connor Thoennes and he would fire one past Martin to make it 9-1. That would stand as the final score. 

 

The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday, February 24th at the ACHA Central Regional Tournament. Their opponent will be determined following Friday's matchups.
