CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston athletic staff announced the hiring of Matt Hobson as an athletic trainer for the Golden Eagles. Hobson joins Associate Athletic Director Steven Krouse, and Associate Head Athletic Trainer Shelby Conard on the Sports Medicine staff at Minnesota Crookston.
Hobson comes to Minnesota Crookston after serving as the assistant athletic trainer at Bellevue East High School in Bellevue, Neb., 2020-24. Hobson assisted in the organization of concussion testing for each athlete prior to the athletic season. He supervised and mentored student athletic trainers from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Hobson maintained professional relationships with physicians to provide optimal medical care for all athletes.
Hobson previously served as an intern athletic trainer for softball and cross country at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. He provided service-oriented care for athletes to make sure they received timely, economical, and encompassing care while participating in athletics. He collaborated with interdisciplinary personnel to develop and implement comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans to improve health and performance of multiple athletes. He assisted in management of inventory and procured expendable medical supplies supporting day-to-day departmental operations.
Hobson was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Midland University in Fremont, Neb., for the 2016-17 academic year. He worked alongside five other athletic trainers to provide care for 30-plus athletic teams. Hobson assisted in pre-participation exams for all teams, and kept medical records necessary for continuation of care.
Hobson earned his Master of Science in organizational leadership from Creighton University in 2020. He earned his Master of Science in adult organization and learning in 2017 from Midland University. Hobson received his Bachelor of Science in athletic training from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2016.
He is a National Athletic Trainer Association member. Hobson is a Mid-America Athletic Training Association member. Hobson is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer. He is Red Cross CPR/AED/First-Aid certified. Hobson is a native of Papillion, Neb.
