Golden Eagles Host Lake Region State to Kick Off Twelve Game Homestand

Hockey | 11/14/2024 10:07:00 AM

Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles are back in Crookston following an eight game road trip, where they went 5-3-0, with big wins over Wisconsin, North Dakota and Bethel. Now the Golden Eagles will get to play a long stretch of home games, starting with Lake Region State. Lake Region State enters this weekend at 5-7-0.

The Golden Eagles are now 7-3-0. Their top three point leaders as of now are: Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, Minn.) with 12 goals, seven assists, and 19 points, Jackson Fuller (Sr., F, Bloomington, Minn.) he has six goals, 10 assists, and 16 points, and tied for third are Fox Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) with six goals, seven assists, and 13 points and Anthony Foster (So., F, Warroad, Minn.) who has three goals, 10 assists, and 13 points. The Golden Eagles have also been beneficiaries of high end goaltending. Currently, Adam Goody (So., G, Airdrie, Alberta) has a 4-2-0 record with a 2.21 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. Wyatt Olsonawski (Jr., G, Hallock, Minn.) is 3-1-0 this season with a 2.74 goals against average and a .915 save percentage.

The Golden Eagles Player to Watch this weekend is Tristan Morneault (Sr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) as he makes his return to the Golden Eagles hockey lineup. Morneault, who has been with the team since its return in 2020, will be a key contributor to their success down the stretch. Morneault has been right around a point per game for his entire collegiate career, with 23 goals, 51 assists, and 74 points in 79 games. Last season, Morneault scored four goals, adding 13 assists, for 17 points in 23 games. Morneault will join a forward group that is averaging 5.2 goals per game, and his high end playmaking ability should bolster the Golden Eagles high flying offense.

This will be the first time in program history that the University of Minnesota Crookston will match up with Lake Region State. The Royals are in their second year as a program, with a total record of 17-22 in their last two years. This year the Royals are 5-7-0, they currently average 3.25 goals per game, and 4.25 goals against per game.

Puck drop between the Golden Eagles and the Royals will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 15th at the Crookston Sports Center. Game two will be Saturday at 2 p.m.
