1/12/2024 10:32:00 PM

St. Cloud, Minn. - The Golden Eagles returned to action tonight to take on the Huskies in St. Cloud. In net for the Golden Eagles was Jared Aamold (Jr., G, Breckenridge, Minn.) for his first start in over a month. For the Huskies it was Brayden Mackie.

It only took 57 seconds to get things going as Anthony Foster (Fr., F, Warroad, Minn.) picked up right where he left off to give the Golden Eagles the 1-0 lead. Just under eight minutes into the first, Thomas Fuller (Fr., F, Bloomington, Minn.) scored his first of the season. With under two minutes to play in the first period, Dalston Kelly would extend the lead to three with a goal of his own.

The second period was very similar to the first period. Logan Syrup (Jr., F, Park River, N.D.) scored less than two minutes into the second to pick up his second point on the night. Five minutes later, Connor Thoennes (So., F, Coleraine, Minn.) scored his first goal of the season to make it a 5-0 contest. Less than a minute later, Jake Huska (Sr., D, Preeceville, Saskatchewan) would make it 6-0 for the Golden Eagles, which is how it would stay for the remainder of the second period.

38 seconds into the third period, Dylan Borseth (R-Sr., F, Williston, N.D.) kept things going, extending the lead to 7-0. Three and a half minutes later, the Huskies broke through Aamold as Nick Thurman fired one past the netminder. With less than six minutes to play, Fox Dodds (Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) scored his 15th goal of the season. With a minute and 20 seconds left, Brendan O'Shea scored for the Huskies to make it an 8-2 game.

Jared Aamold made 39 saves on 41 shots in the contest, starting the New Year off strong. Anthony Foster, Logan Syrup, Jake Huska, Jackson Fuller (Jr., F, Bloomington, Minn.), and Gunner Ferrier (Sr., D, Baudette, Minn.) all had multipoint nights as the Golden Eagles ran away with an 8-2 victory.

The Golden Eagles return to action tomorrow, January 13th, at 2 P.M. in St. Cloud.
