Box Score 2 NORFOLK, Neb. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team fell 4-3 and 11-6 to the University of Sioux Falls at Veterans Memorial Field Saturday, April 1 in Norfolk, Neb.
Minnesota Crookston dropped to 17-11 (7-3 NSIC) with Saturday's losses. The Golden Eagles are currently in a tie for third. Sioux Falls improved to 6-20 (5-7 NSIC) with Saturday's sweep.
Game One
In the first game, the Cougars jumped out to an early lead and were able to pick up the 4-3 win.
Jake Dykhoff (R-Sr., RHP, Wadena, Minn.) got the start in the game.
Mike Hallquist (Jr., 3B, Fargo, N.D.) hit a home run in the first inning for the Golden Eagles.
Game Two
Minnesota Crookston had the early 3-1 lead in Saturday's second game. USF scored runs in the fourth and fifth frames to knot the game at 3-3. The Cougars scored eight runs in the final two stanzas to pick up the 11-6 victory.
Alex Koep (Jr., LHP, Parkers Prairie, Minn.) tossed 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits. Koep struck out three and walked four.
Brody Sorenson (Jr., RHP, Grand Forks, N.D.) went 2.2 innings in relief, allowing no runs on three hits.
Conner Richardson (R-Sr., RHP, Grand Forks, N.D.) suffered the loss after allowing three earned runs on four hits in 0.2 innings of work.
Caleb Ditmarson earned the win for USF after tossing seven innings and allowing three runs on eight hits. Ditmarson struck out three. Reese Gaber allowed three runs on two hits in two innings out of the bullpen.
The Cougars were guided in the eighth by a two RBI double from Noah Buss. Buss hit a crucial single to drive in another run in the ninth.
Minnesota Crookston was led by
