
CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer program announced the signing of
Emmah Burnes (MF, 5-5, Tulare, Calif./Mission Oak H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent. Burnes is the sixth signee for the Golden Eagles, joining
Caitlin Bebee (MF, 5-8, Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville H.S.),
Marsia Green (F, 5-10, Waconia, Minn./Mayer Lutheran H.S.),
Madison Lein (D, 5-4, Bismarck, N.D./Legacy H.S.),
Megan McGraw (F, 5-4, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee H.S.), and
Tessa VanOverbeke (D, 5-6, Hartford, S.D./West Central H.S.).
"We are really pleased to announce the signing of Emmah for the 2023 class, she is a great example of the type of student-athlete that will help us get to where we want to go as a program," said Head Coach
Neil Mancktelow. "I believe that she will be a great fit for what we are trying to do here."
The Golden Eagles have a strong core returning from the 2022 season. Minnesota Crookston returns 16 players from last year's roster. Minnesota Crookston finished the season with a 2-15-1 (1-13-1 NSIC) mark. They doubled their wins from a season prior and had their most wins since 2016.
Neil Mancktelow will enter his first season as head coach in 2023. Mancktelow was the assistant coach for the Golden Eagles during the 2022 slate. The Golden Eagles were guided in 2022 by
Abby Fettinger (So., F, White Bear Lake, Minn.) with two goals.
Sarah Burgum (Fr., F, Mandan, N.D.) returns after tallying one goal and one assist.
Burnes is the first signee in the 2023 class from California, she joins California-natives
Madelyn Teplansky (Jr., MF, Apple Valley, Calif.) and
Jacqueline Calderon (Jr., MF, Indio, Calif.) on the roster.
The student-athlete listed as having signed a National Letter of Intent or Offer of Admission to play women's soccer at the University of Minnesota Crookston have been verified by the Minnesota Crookston compliance office once they sign the National Letter of Intent or once the student-athlete has accepted an Offer of Admission for Minnesota Crookston.
Emmah Burnes (MF, 5-5, Tulare, Calif./Mission Oak H.S.)
Burnes was named West Yosemite League First Team. She was named the Most Valuable Player for the WYL and helped Mission Oak H.S. to the West Yosemite League Championship this season. She is a two-time EYL First Team selection. She has been named the Mission Oak H.S. Most Valuable Player three times. Burnes was selected as her team's tennis MVP, and the Most Valuable Thrower for track and field.
She is the daughter of Haydee and Joseph Burnes. Burnes plans to major in communication at Minnesota Crookston. Her brother Seth Logan played football at Greenville University. Her sister Alyssa Logan was a thrower for the track and field team at Utah Valley University.
