3/2/2023 9:56:00 PM

Crookston, Minn. – No. 1 UMary scored four goals in the third period to knock off Minnesota Crookston, 4-0, on Thursday night in the Crookston Sports Center.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 23-7-1, while the Marauders, who are gearing up for Nationals, improve to 35-6-1.

The Golden Eagles would hold their own with the best team in the nation.

The first period would be a high flying period, with both teams earning great chances on each end, but the first 20 minutes would end scoreless. Wyatt Olsonowski (Fr., G, Hallock, Minn.) was outstanding all night, making 31 saves, including 12 in the first period.

The second period would also be scoreless, but it would be a period that would be tilted the way of the Marauders, who would outshoot the Golden Eagles, 12-4.

Early on in the third period, Minnesota Crookston would go on the man advantage, but would be held off the scoreboard, propelling a Marauders goal, as Garrett Freeman would score on a beautiful feed from Seth Cushing.

55 seconds later, Andrew Huber would score on a rebound for a 2-0 lead.

UMary would add two more goals for the 4-0 win.

Tristan Morneault (Jr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) led the way with five shots, while Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.) would have four shots.

Olsonowski finished with 31 saves in net.

Minnesota Crookston will wrap-up their 2022-23 season tomorrow night against the defending National Champions. Puck drop with the Marauders is set for 5:30 P.M., from the CSC.
