Big Third Quarter Not Enough as Minnesota Crookston Women Fall to Minot State

Minot, N.D. – Kennedy Harris buried four first half three's, leading her team to 51 first half points, propelling the Beavers to an 86-68 victory in the Minot State Dome on Saturday.

The race in the NSIC North is officially on. Minnesota Crookston is 10-14 (9-9 NSIC), while Minot State is 10-14 (6-12 NSIC).

MSU would score the first five points of the game, but Bren Fox (R-Sr., C, Norwood Young America, Minn.) would finish on a layup for the first points of the night for the Golden Eagles.

MSU would eventually extend their lead to nine at 20-11, but Emma Dudycha (Fr., G, Austin, Minn.) would score three the tough way to cut the lead to just six.

Minot State would score nine of the quarter's final 11 points to head into the second quarter up by 13 at 29-16.

The second quarter would see the Beavers outscore the Golden Eagles by five and would head into the halftime break up by 18.

The third quarter would see the Golden Eagles start to chip away at the lead.

The Golden Eagles would trail 60-42, but a pair of three-point makes from Emma Miller (Fr., G, Albertville, Minn.) and Natalie Mikrot (Fr., G, Willow River, Minn.) would cut the lead to 60-48.

Abigail Leach (R-Jr., G/F, Wyoming, Minn.) would bury a jumper to make it a seven point game, but the Beavers would go into the final quarter up by nine.

In their second possession of the fourth quarter, Miller would cash in on one of her five makes from deep to get the Golden Eagles even closer.

After that make, it would be all MSU, who would go on for the 18 point win.

Miller continues to be outstanding offensively, finishing with 30 points and four steals, while double-double machine, Fox, finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Taryn Frazer (Fr., G, Cass Lake, Minn.) added seven, while Dudycha added five points.

Minnesota Crookston shot 40 percent from the field, but had 21 turnovers that led to a whopping 19 points for the Beavers.

It should be a fun weekend next weekend in Crookston, as they host MSUM and Northern State, who are sitting in fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the NSIC North. A playoff spot could be up for grabs. Tip-off with the Dragons is set for 7:30 P.M., on Friday, in Crookston.
