Tucson, Ariz. – Minnesota Crookston softball lost a pair of games on Sunday afternoon to close out the D2 Cactus Classic.

Minnesota Crookston fell to Western Oregon, 6-2 and lost to Georgian Court by a score of 10-1.

The Golden Eagles drop to 2-4 on the season.

Game One
The Golden Eagles would start out quick in the top of the second inning. Paige Shwaluk (Jr., MIF, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba) would knock in Sophie Juntunen (Fr., 1B/OF, Albertville, Minn.) for a 1-0 lead.

The Wolves would answer with five straight runs through the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead.

Dana Zarn (Sr., IF, Winnipeg, Manitoba) would inch the Golden Eagles a little closer with an RBI double, scoring Brittney Mengel (So., OF, Sullivan, Wis.).

In the bottom of the sixth, WOU would add an insurance for a 6-2 lead, which would be the final tally.

Paige Shwaluk led the way with a 2-4 day, while Zarn, Juntunen and Reagan Emerick (R-So., MIF, Macomb, Ill.) each collected a base knock.

Gracelynn Kelly (Fr., P, Black Hawk, S.D.) got the start in the circle and went 1.1 innings, giving up just one hit and picking up the loss. Jenna Parfeniuk (R-Jr., 1B/P, Winnipeg, Manitoba) came in for relief and went four innings, giving up six earned runs on five hits, while striking out three.

Game Two
In game two, Georgian Court would score a run in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead.

It wouldn't take long for the Golden Eagles to answer, as Alina Avalos (Sr., IF, Riverside, Calif.) drove in Whitnee Curry (So., MIF/OF, Lincoln, Neb.) to tie the game at one.

From that point, it would be all Lions, who would score nine straight runs to pull away for the 10-1 victory.

The Golden Eagles had four hits in the game, with one apiece from Paige Shwaluk, Avalos, Megel and Maddie Shwaluk (Jr., OF, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba).

Charlotte Dombrowski (Fr., P/OF, Valparaiso, Ind.) picked up the loss in the circle, giving up six runs in three innings of work. Evie Stuck (So., P, Papillion, Neb.) came in for relief of Dombrowski and also went three innings.
