Minnesota Crookston Has 23 Student-Athletes Named to 2023 NSIC Fall All-Academic Teams

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston had 23 student-athletes named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All-Academic Teams, as announced by the conference office Thursday, November 30. 

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced that 830 student-athletes have earned NSIC All-Academic honors for the 2023 fall athletic season; 520^ student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, while 310^ earned NSIC All-Academic Team honors. To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher. Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.

For Men's Cross Country, Warden Dahlgren (Sr., Edgeley, N.D.) was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, while Connor Thoennes (So., Coleraine, Minn.) earned placement on the NSIC All-Academic Team.

For Women's Cross Country, Madison Hilliard (So., Jacksonville, N.C.) was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. Alex Middendorf (Sr., Sauk Centre, Minn.), and Anna Grabowski (Jr., Waterdown, Ontario) were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team.

For Women's Soccer, Abby Fettinger (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.), Brooklyn Fischbach (Jr., South St. Paul, Minn.), Jacqueline Calderon (R-Jr., Indio, Calif.), Greta Saylor (Jr., New Brighton, Minn.), Ashley Chomyn (R-Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba), Jada VanOverbeke (Jr., Hartford, S.D.), and Tayettin Brodzinski (So., Yelm, Wash.) were all named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. Julia Finch (So., Woodbury, Minn.), Emma Stempien (Jr., Plymouth, Mich.), Jenna Custer (Sr., Queen Creek, Ariz.), Abby Olsen (Sr., Chisago City, Minn.), and Madelyn Teplansky (Sr., Apple Valley, Calif.) all earned NSIC All-Academic Team honors.

For Volleyball, Bailey Schaefer (Jr., Brandon, Minn.), Mara Weisensel (Sr., New Ulm, Minn.), Audrey Cariveau (So., Kevil, Ky.), and Kora Norland (Sr., Fosston, Minn.) all earned NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. Layne Whaley (Jr., Ashland, Neb.), and Dana Melby (So., Clearbrook, Minn.) were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team.
