Crookston, Minn. – In the last match of a four-match home stand, Minnesota Crookston welcomed No. 6 St. Cloud State for a rare mid-week match.

Minnesota Crookston falls to 3-11 (1-5 NSIC), while St. Cloud State improves to 13-3 (6-1 NSIC).
Set One
It was an outstanding crowd on a Tuesday night and they saw an early
Audrey Cariveau (So., OH, Kevil, Kent.) kill, tying the set up at one.
SCSU would score the next three, but the maroon and gold would answer with three of their own, highlighted by a
Maya Jones (Fr., OH, New Braunfels, Texas) kill.
Trailing 10-8,
Madison Carsten (Fr., OH, Wadena, Minn.) would collect a kill to make it 10-9.
From that point on, it would be all Huskies, who would win the first set by 10.
Set Two
The second set would not start out great for the young Golden Eagles, who would trail 6-1 early on. Two kills from Carsten and one from
Mara Weisensel (Sr., MH, New Ulm, Minn.) would help the Golden Eagles get back within one.
The match would be tied three different times at seven, eight and nine, but SCSU would go on a 3-0 run, which would be halted by an
Emma Malek (Fr., MH, Plainfield, Ill.) kill.
The Huskies would eventually extend their lead to five, but the Golden Eagles would take advantage of a Huskies attacking error to make it 21-17.
SCSU would score the next four points to win the set, 25-17.
Set Three
The third set would once again see the Golden Eagles fall by three early, but Minnesota Crookston would tie the match at four on the strength of their freshman, Carsten and Jones.
A Malek service ace would eventually give the Golden Eagles their first lead of the match at 8-7, but SCSU would score two straight to take a 9-8 lead.
SCSU would eventually extend their lead to 17-11, but back-to-back service aces from
Bailey Schaefer (Jr., DS, Brandon, Minn.) would help cut the lead to 17-15.
