MINOT, N.D. - The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team fell 4-0 to Minot State University Friday, October 13 at Herb Parker Stadium in Minot, N.D. The Beavers scored one in the first half, as the Golden Eagles limited them in the first half. However, Minot State scored three goals in the second half to cap off a 4-0 win.
Minnesota Crookston dropped to 0-12 (0-8 NSIC) with Friday's road loss. Minot State improved to 5-6-1 (2-5-1 NSIC) with the win. The Beavers beat the Golden Eagles 2-1, in Minnesota Crookston's closest game of the season, in non-conference play September 3.
The Beavers had 26 shots, with 13 shots on goal. Minnesota Crookston finished with just one shot. Minot State attempted eight corner kicks.
The lone shot for U of M Crookston came from Jacqueline Calderon (R-Jr., MF, Indio, Calif.).
Illiana Rivera and Rebecca Storr paced the Beavers with four shots apiece.
Minot State went ahead 1-0 in the sixth minute when Maria Pacheco Martinez scored off a Jessica Groen assist.
The score remained 1-0 until the Beavers found the back of the net in the 59th minute. This time Crystyn Isbister scored off a Storr helper. In the 77th minute, Lola Onsurez notched a tally, off a Yossi Villagrana assist. The final tally came in the 87th minute with an Anabel Noches unassisted goal.
Abby Olsen (Sr., GK, Chisago City, Minn.) started in goal, and finished with nine saves, allowing four goals. Olsen is third in the nation in saves per game.
Siriana Gudino got the win for the Beavers, picking up a clean sheet, with no saves.
Minnesota Crookston faces University of Mary Sunday, October 15 at 1 p.m.
