Duluth, Minn. – This past weekend, the University of Minnesota Crookston hockey team traveled to Duluth for a two-game series against Minnesota Duluth. On Saturday, the Bulldogs scored two goals late for a 6-4 win, while the Golden Eagles returned the favor, scoring a goal with less than five minutes to go, skating to a 4-4 tie.

Saturday's game
The Golden Eagles would strike fast on a
Jackson Fuller (So., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) goal, assisted by
Gunner Ferrier (Jr., D, Baudette, Minn.) and
Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.)
UMD would score the next two in the first, but
Jake Huska (Jr., D, Snow Lake, Manitoba) would knot the game up at two, early in the second.
Mitchell Coleman (So., F, Hatton, N.D.) picked up the assist.
Huska would give the Golden Eagles the lead 30 seconds into the period at 3-2. Syrup and Fuller would gain the assists.
In a common theme, UMD would answer right back, tying the game at 3, but
Tyler Zahradka (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) would deposit one past the Bulldogs goaltender for a 4-3 lead.
UMD would score the game's final three goals, including an empty netter to pick up the game one victory.
Sunday's Game
Sunday would see the Bulldogs get off to a quick start, taking an early 2-0 lead midway through the first period.
Huska would answer and cut the lead in half on his third goal of the weekend, with Syrup picking up the assist. It would be 2-1 after the first 20 minutes.
The Bulldogs would strike to regain their two goal lead, but Zahradka and
Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.) would score goals in the second period to tie things up at three after the second period.
Seven minutes into the final period, UMD would score to regain their lead, but
Tristan Morneault (Jr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) would come up with a huge goal on the power play to tie things up at four. It would be the second goal with the man advantage in the game.
The game would go to overtime with neither team scoring in the three on three. UMD would win the shootout.
Braden Schmitz (So., G, Devils Lake, N.D.) earned the start in net and picked up 36 saves on the night.
What's Next
Minnesota Crookston will look to get back to their winning ways next weekend in a place they have lost just once this season. The Golden Eagles will host St. John's University on Friday and Saturday at the Crookston Sports Center. Puck drop with St. John's is set for 7 P.M., Friday. The Golden Eagles are 9-1 at home this season.
