Minnesota Crookston Men's Basketball Announces Signing of Division I Transfer Rossi

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston men's basketball program announced the signing of Pedro Rossi (F, 6-8 215, Bahía Blanca, Argentina/St. Bonaventure University). Rossi joins fellow signees Matthew Allman (G/F, 6-6 190, London, England/Glenville State College), Isaiah Bundy-Smith (F, 6-6 210, Rugby, N.D./Golden State Prep (Calif.), Xzavier Jones (G/F, 6-4 190, Milwaukee, Wis./Iowa Lakes C.C.), Chandler Meeks (G, 6-1 185, Omaha, Neb./Omaha Westside H.S.), and Blaize Sagna (G, 6-3 190, London, England/Howard College (Texas). Rossi is the first official signing under new Head Coach Bryan Beamish.

"We are very excited to welcome Pedro into the Golden Eagle basketball family," Beamish stated. "Pedro brings a versatile skill set and will be able to play and guard multiple positions on both ends of the floor. His experience coming from a high level program like St. Bonaventure as well as all of his success playing in Argentina has me very excited to get him to campus and get to work in the fall."

Rossi is the first Division I transfer to sign with the Golden Eagles for the 2022-23 season. He joins Allman as NCAA transfers to join the program. He will help UMN Crookston in the paint, and with his outside shot. He has high level experience, playing for St. Bonaventure University, who made the NIT semifinals last season.

The Golden Eagles are looking to build on an 8-19 (5-16 NSIC) mark. UMN Crookston will enter a new era, as they will be in their first season under Beamish as head coach. Minnesota Crookston will have a new look squad heading into the 2022-23 slate.

The student-athlete listed as having signed a National Letter of Intent or Offer of Admission to compete on the men's basketball team at the University of Minnesota Crookston have been verified by the Minnesota Crookston compliance office once they sign the National Letter of Intent or once the student-athlete has accepted an Offer of Admission for Minnesota Crookston.

Pedro Rossi (F, 6-8 215, Bahía Blanca, Argentina/St. Bonaventure University)
Rossi appeared in three games as a freshman at NCAA Division I St. Bonaventure University. He saw action against Duquesne University, University of Rhode Island, and Richmond University. Rossi played for the Argentina U-19 national team and was captain of the U-18 and U-19 FIBA 3x3 World Cup squads. He averaged 3.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in the 2021 FIBA U-19 World Cup in Latvia. Rossi scored 12 points in 14 minutes against South Korea. He averaged 10.8 points and 5.2 rebounds for Argentina in the 2019 FIBA South American U-19 Championship. He played for DME Sports Academy in Florida during the 2020-21 season.

He is the son of Gisela and Martin Rossi. Rossi plans to major in management at UMN Crookston.
