FARGO, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Minnesota State University Moorhead Saturday, April 9 at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D. UMN Crookston picked up a pair of singles victories Saturday guided by Madeline Schneider (So., Gartringen, Germany) and
Ashley Chomyn (Jr., Winnipeg, Manitoba).
The Golden Eagles dropped to 2-11 (0-10 NSIC) with Saturday's loss. MSU Moorhead improved to 5-11 (1-9 NSIC) with the victory.
Schneider moved to 7-6 at No. 1 singles with her victory Saturday tying the best wins mark at No. 1 singles, previously set by Catherine Brown in 2016. Schneider defeated Emma Andersen, 7-5, 6-4. Chomyn moved to 6-1 with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 win against Greta Recihmann at No. 6 singles At the No. 2 slot,
Michelle Swyter (Jr., Perham, Minn.) fell 6-0, 6-1 to Mikaela Greichen. At the No. 3 slot,
Sarah Velasquez (So., Chino, Calif.) was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Miranda Greichen. At the No. 4 singles spot,
Tasha Achermann (Jr., Staples, Minn.) fell 6-0, 6-1 to Tia Dykema. At the No. 5 slot,
Samantha Gutierrez (So., Riverside, Calif.) fell 6-1, 6-1 to Madison Bell.
At the No. 1 doubles spot, Schneider and Velasquez fell 6-1 to Mikaela Greichen and Miranda Greichen. At the No. 2 slot, Swyter and Gutierrez fell 6-1 to Andersen and Bell. At the No. 3 spot, Achermann and
Kaydance Hinn (Fr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) fell 6-0 to Dykema and Recihmann.
Minnesota Crookston will finish out the 2022 season Sunday, April 10 at 9 a.m. versus University of Mary in Fargo, N.D.
