CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team will conclude the 2022 season Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10. The Golden Eagles will take on Minnesota State University Moorhead Saturday at 3 p.m. in Fargo, N.D., and University of Mary Sunday at 9 a.m. in Fargo, N.D.
The Golden Eagles come into the weekend with a 2-10 (0-9 NSIC) mark. UMN Crookston has posted their best season since going 4-12 during the 2014 season. They have shown considerable growth all-around during the 2022 campaign. The Dragons come into Saturday with a 4-11 (0-9 NSIC) mark. UMary enters Sunday with a 7-6 (6-3 NSIC) mark.
UMN Crookston has been led by the play of
Madeleine Schneider (So., Gartringen, Germany) at the No. 1 single slot. Schneider is 6-6 at the No. 1 singles spot. She is two away from matching Catherine Brown's best-ever singles mark set in 2013 with an 8-7 mark. Schneider is one away from tying the best wins mark at No. 1 singles, set by Brown in 2016 with seven wins.
Michelle Swyter (Jr., Perham, Minn.) comes in with a 2-10 mark at No. 2 singles.
Sarah Velasquez (So., Chino, Calif.) comes into the weekend with a 2-10 record at No. 3 singles. At No. 4 singles,
Tasha Achermann (So., Motley, Minn.) is 3-9.
Samantha Gutierrez (So., Riverside, Calif.) is 1-9 at the No. 5 slot.
Ashley Chomyn (Jr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) comes in with a 5-1 record at the No. 6 singles spot.
In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Schneider and Velasquez is 2-9. At the No. 2 slot, Gutierrez and Swyter are 2-5. At the No. 3 spot,
Kaydance Hinn (Fr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) and Swyter are 3-2, while Hinn and Achermann are 3-4.
MSU Moorhead is led in singles by Tia Dykema, who is 8-7 at the No. 4 singles spot. Madison Bell comes in with a 7-8 mark at No. 5 singles. Emma Andersen is 4-11 at No. 1 singles for the Dragons. In doubles, the No. 2 pair of Mikaela Griechen and Dykema comes in with a 7-8 mark. At the No. 1 slot, Andersen and Miranda Griechen are 3-12.
UMary is led by Doaa Farouk Mohamed, who is 11-2 at the No. 3 singles spot. At No. 1 singles, Chloe Chong is 7-6 for the Marauders. In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Chong and Ilona Freitag are 8-5. At the No. 2 slot, Farouk Mohamed and Emily Needham are 8-5.
