UMN Crookston Series Against St. Cloud State Moved Up A Day; Golden Eagles Set for Three with Huskies

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball series against St. Cloud State University has been moved up a day due to weather. The Golden Eagles are slated to play the Huskies Friday, April 29 at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 30 at 12 p.m. at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn.

Minnesota Crookston remains in the hunt for the final spot in the NSIC Tournament. The Golden Eagles are currently in 11th place in the conference standings with eight games remaining. UMN Crookston has to go at least 4-4 in their last eight games, and Northern State University needs to go no better than 2-6. The Golden Eagles would also need UMary to do no better than 2-6, and University of Minnesota Duluth to do no better than 3-5. Concordia University-St. Paul and Upper Iowa University are also in the hunt for the final spot. Concordia-St. Paul has to at least 5-3, with all other previous scenarios in play in order to make the tournament. Upper Iowa has to go at least 7-1 in their final eight games.

The Golden Eagles come into the weekend with a 15-23 (7-12 NSIC) mark. UMN Crookston has gone 3-2 in their last five games. UMN Crookston had their games against Minot State University earlier this week canceled. St. Cloud State has a 30-10 (22-4 NSIC) record. The Huskies have a 15-game win streak in progress. Minnesota Crookston has the last win in the series, with a 6-1 win at the NSIC Tournament last season in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Huskies come into the weekend hitting .310 as a team. St. Cloud State is guided by Sam Riola, who is batting .426, with 54 runs scored, 15 home runs, and 47 RBIs. Tate Wallat has also made a major impact this season, batting .389, with 42 runs scored, nine doubles, and 25 RBIs.
