CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's basketball team announced the signing of twin sisters Hope Dudycha (G, 5-5, Austin, Minn./Austin H.S.) and Emma Dudycha (G, 5-5, Austin, Minn,/Austin H.S.). The twins will continue their careers in the Maroon and Gold, becoming the fifth and sixth signees for the Golden Eagles in the 2022 signing class. They join Taryn Frazer (G, 5-4, Cass Lake, Minn./Cass Lake-Bena H.S.), Emma Miller (G, 5-1, Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville H.S.), Natalie Mikrot (G, 5-6, Willow River, Minn.), and Janie Tormanen (F/C, 6-0, Menahga, Minn./Menahga H.S.).
Hope and Emma Dudycha continue to show the priority for Coach Roysland and his staff of keeping talent in Minnesota. All six signees this season for the Golden Eagles are in-state talents that will play for the Golden Eagles. Hope and Emma Dudycha will elevate the back-court for the Golden Eagles, along with Frazer, Miller, and Mikrot. They mark the first twins to join the program for the Golden Eagles since Jamie and Jill Zelinsky prior to the 2007-08 season.
The Golden Eagles have a young nucleus returning for the 2022-23 season after going 4-19 (3-14 NSIC). Minnesota Crookston played their best basketball in their last five games, winning three-consecutive and hanging with No. 7/16 St. Cloud State University. The Golden Eagles will look to continue to build on their core heading into the 2022-23 slate. Minnesota Crookston returns several players who gained starting experience during the 2021-22 season.
The student-athletes listed as having signed a National Letter of Intent or Offer of Admission to play women's basketball at the University of Minnesota Crookston have been verified by the Minnesota Crookston compliance office once they sign the National Letter of Intent or once the student-athlete has accepted an Offer of Admission for Minnesota Crookston.
Hope Dudycha (G, 5-5, Austin, Minn./Austin H.S.)
Hope Dudycha is a three-time All-Big 9 Conference selection for Austin H.S. (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21). She has twice earned All-State Honorable Mention accolades (2019-20, 2020-21). She reached the 1,000 point milestone during the 2020-21 season. She had 26 points against St. Paul Como Park, and notched 21 points in a victory over Northfield H.S. Hope had 35 points on Faribault H.S. in a dominant 78-36 victory.
She is the daughter of Jeremy and Nicole Dudycha. Dudycha is undecided on her major at UMN Crookston. Hope Dudycha will get the opportunity to compete with her twin sister Emma Dudycha.
"Hope is a true point guard with a great IQ and skill set," said Head Coach
Mike Roysland. "She does a great job of getting everyone involved! She can score all levels, and she continually has a calming effect with her team when she is on the floor. We are very excited to add Hope to our basketball program."
Emma Dudycha (G, 5-5, Austin, Minn./Austin H.S.)
Emma Dudycha earned All-Big 9 Conference Honorable Mention accolades during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. She had 15 points in a win over Northfield H.S. Dudycha tallied 13 points versus St. Paul Como Park.
She is the daughter of Jeremy and Nicole Dudycha. She plans to major in health sciences at UMN Crookston. Emma Dudycha will get the opportunity to compete with her twin sister Hope Dudycha.
"Emma is more of a shooting guard, and she has great range," Roysland stated. "She also has great vision on the court. I like the versatility she brings. We are very excited to have Emma join our Golden Eagle basketball program."
