OWATONNA, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 7-0 to Minnesota State University, Mankato Sunday, February 13 in Owatonna, Minn. The Golden Eagles were led by
Michelle Swyter (Jr., Perham, Minn.) and
Kaydance Hinn (Fr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) moved to 3-1 at the No. 3 doubles spot.
Minnesota Crookston fell to 0-4 with the loss. Minnesota State improved to 7-2 with the victory.
Swyter and Hinn picked up the 6-4 victory over Lacee Fedeler and Kjerstin Hall.
In singles, at the No. 1 slot
Madeleine Schneider (So., Gartringen, Germany) fell in her first match of the season to drop to 3-1, as she was defeated 6-3, 6-0 by Tristen Bryant-Otake. At the No. 2 spot, Swyter was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Avery Stilwell. At the No. 3 spot,
Sarah Velasquez (So., Chino, Calif.) fell 6-1, 6-1 to Hana Minisy. At the No. 4 slot,
Tasha Achermann (So., Staples, Minn.) fell 6-3, 6-1 to Taylor Julsrud. At the No. 5 singles spot,
Samantha Gutierrez (So., Riverside, Calif.) fell 6-4, 6-2 to Fedeler. At No. 6 singles, Hinn was defeated 6-4, 6-0 by Sarah Johansen.
At the No. 1 doubles spot, Schneider and Velasquez fell 6-0 to Stilwell and Bryant-Otake. At the No. 2 slot, Achermann and Gutierrez were defeated 6-0 by Elizabeth Felderman and Brynn Psooy.
Minnesota Crookston will take on Winona State University Saturday, February 19 at 9 a.m. in Bemidji, Minn.
