Minneapolis, Minn. – No big deal, just another hat trick for Golden Eagle sophomore forward
Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.), who led the way in a 6-2 victory over Minnesota, earning the split with the Golden Gophers.
Â
The Golden Eagles improve to 12-2 on the season and keep pace with Minnesota in the ACHA standings.
Â
The Golden Eagles would strike first on a Syrup goal, with the assist from
Jackson Fuller (So., F, Minneapolis, Minn.), who also finished with three points in his hometown.
Â
Less than seven minutes later, Fuller would deposit the first of his two goals in the back of the net with assists by
Gunner Ferrier (Jr., D, Baudette, Minn.) and
Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.).
Â
In the second period, Fuller and Syrup would do all the goal scoring for the maroon and gold. Fuller would score one early on in the second and Syrup would score two goals less than two minutes apart.
Â
The Golden Eagles would lead 5-2 heading into the third period.
Â
Neither team would score in the third period, until
Casey Kallock (Sr., D, Alvarado, Minn.) would ice the game for the Golden Eagles with an empty-net goal.
Â
Syrup, Ferrier Fuller each led the way with three points, while Kallock finished with a goal and an assist.
Â
Minnesota Crookston was a perfect 3-3 on the power play on the afternoon.
Â
Braden Schmitz (So., G, Devils Lake, N.D.) was outstanding in net, making 28 saves on 30 shots and earned the win.
Â
The Golden Eagles will host North Dakota State next Friday and Saturday. Puck-drop at the Crookston Sports Center on Friday is set for 8:45 P.M. The Golden Eagle Student Athlete Advisory Committee will be hosting their first annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans who bring a Teddy Bear to the game get in for free and will throw the Teddy Bears onto the ice after the first Golden Eagle goal.
