Crookston, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston hockey team was looking for their sixth sweep of the season and third inside the Crookston Sports Center this season against North Dakota State. Minnesota Crookston would dominate from start to finish for their third straight win.
The Golden Eagles would score six goals in the second period to cruise to the 10-2 win.
The Golden Eagles would use a pair of first period goals, both on the power play to surge out to a 2-0 lead after the first period.
Zach Larson (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) would deposit one from the left circle, on a beautiful feed from
Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.).
Casey Kallock (Sr., D, Alvarado, Minn.) would also earn the assist.
With less than two minutes remaining, Syrup would score his team-high 20
th goal of the season, his second point of the first period. The duo of Kallock and Larson would gain the assists.
The second period would be all Golden Eagles.
Jake Huska (Jr., D, Snow Lake, Manitoba),
Landon Syrup (Fr., F, Park River, N.D.) and Larson (x2) would each score in the first seven minutes of the second period, putting the Golden Eagles in front, 6-0. Larson would collect his first hat-trick of his career.
Tristan Morneault (Jr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) and
Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.) would decide to join the party, each scoring late in the period.
Through two periods, Larson had five points, while Kallock had four, all coming on assists.
Dylan Neubauer (So., F, Thompson, N.D.) and Fuller would score the two goals for the Golden Eagles in the third period.
The Golden Eagles would be led by Larson's five points and Kallock, who finished with four points. Syrup and Morneault would finish with three points on the night. Syrup now has 39 points on the season.
Jared Aamold earned the start in net, making 13 saves on 15 Bison shots.
What's Next
With 14 wins in the first half of the season, the Golden Eagles will have a well-deserved month break. The Golden Eagles will host St. Cloud State for a weekend series on Jan. 13-14.
