Minnesota Crookston
The recipe to a successful hockey team is simple: Goal scorers and great goaltending. Minnesota Crookston has gotten both in bunches this season.
The Golden Eagles have outscored their opponents 42-12 this season, including a 10-2 victory at the University of North Dakota and a 12-2 win last Friday at Bethel College.
Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.) has seemingly scored every time he gets the puck. Syrup leads the Golden Eagles with 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) and set a career-high with six points in the 10-goal win over Bethel on Friday.
Tyler Zahradka (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) and
Jackson Fuller (So., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) each have 11 points on the season. Zahradka is a goal behind Syrup for the team lead in goals.
Jake Huska (Jr., D, Snow Lake, Manitoba) and
Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.) round out the double-digit scorers with 10 points each. A whopping eight Golden Eagles are averaging at least a point per game, including
Casey Kallock (Sr., D, Alvarado, Minn.) and
Zach Larson (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.).
Minnesota Crookston has also gotten outstanding goaltender play.
Jared Aamold (So., G, Breckenridge, Minn.) has played in three games and is 2-0 with a save percentage of .946. The sophomore is allowing just 1.33 goals per game and has made 70 saves.
Jake Sumner (Jr., G, Alta Loma, Calif.) is 2-0 as well with a .920 save percentage. Minnesota Crookston should also get
Braden Schmitz (So., G, Devils Lake, N.D.) back in the near future as well.
Wisconsin-Eau Claire
The Blugolds come into this weekend at 5-3 and have won their last three games.
Defenseman Sean Seamans leads Wisconsin-Eau Claire with five points in four games and Isaac Lindstrom has four points in three games. Forward Martin Moioffer leads his team with two goals. 12 different Blugolds have registered at least one point on the season.
In net, Francisco Gomez, who defeated the Golden Eagles in the WCCHA playoffs a season ago, has started all their games and has allowed 14 goals and a 3.50 goals allowed average. Gomez has made 136 saves on the season and is 1-2.
