Kyle Halfpop Resigns as Minnesota Crookston Soccer Coach

11/3/2022 9:58:00 AM

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston athletic department announced the resignation of Kyle Halfpop as head soccer coach. Halfpop is leaving the program due to family reasons.

"We are extremely grateful to Kyle for the work he has done as head coach at UMN Crookston," said Director of Athletics Stephanie Helgeson. "We are sad to see him go but believe he has left the program in a good position for the next person."

Halfpop spent four seasons as head coach of the Minnesota Crookston soccer program. He helped the Golden Eagles to their most wins since 2016 with two victories during the 2022 season. The Golden Eagles had their first All-Conference recipient since 2016 during the 2021 season when Jada VanOverbeke was named All-NSIC Second Team.

"I have loved being a part of the UMN Crookston campus, athletic department, and community," Halfpop stated. "This experience has been so enjoyable and something I will miss tremendously. I want to thank Stephanie Helgeson for the opportunity to lead the soccer program and the trust she had in me to help get this thing back on course. I am confident the program is in a much better place than it was just over three years ago. I am incredibly grateful for the relationships I have built with all the players, the support staff and the entire campus during my time. Although I am unable to see out this project that we started on, I am confident this program will continue to improve and reach the heights it deserves. I wish the soccer program and the University nothing but the best moving forward. Thanks for everything! Wings Up!"

The Golden Eagles will open up a national search for Halfpop's replacement immediately.
