Crookston, Minn. – After garnering a split this weekend at home against Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Minnesota Crookston hockey is back on the road this weekend for a weekend series at Dakota College at Bottineau. Minnesota Crookston dropped their first game of the season on Friday, 3-2, but bounced back nicely on Saturday, using three power play goals for a 5-1 victory.

This will be the third and fourth meetings between the two programs. Last season, the Golden Eagles won the first meeting, 5-3, but the Lumberjacks returned the favor with a 5-3 victory of their own, in Crookston.

Minnesota Crookston (7-1)
The Golden Eagles earned their highest region in program history last Thursday evening, where they earned the No. 3 spot in the Central Region. The Golden Eagles earned the spot of that ranking, splitting with No. 15, Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Minnesota Crookston has a ton of scoring prowess, as they proved this past weekend. Against the Blugolds on Friday, the Golden Eagles scored a pair of goals just nine seconds apart, a school record. On Saturday, the Golden Eagles answered the opening goal scored by Wisconsin-Eau Claire with five-straight goals of their own.

Minnesota Crookston has seven scorers with more than 10 points on the season, including Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.), who leads the team with 19. Casey Kallock (Sr., D, Alvarado, Minn.) scored the game-winning goal on Saturday in route to a three-point performance. Kallock now has 13 points on the year. Jackson Fuller (So., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) also has 13 points on the year with seven goals and six assists. All seven scorers with 10 or more points are averaging over a point per game as well. The Golden Eagles have scored more than a goal in all eight games this season.

Minnesota Crookston has gotten outstanding goaltending as well. For the last several weeks, the Golden Eagles have gone to Jake Sumner (Jr., G, Alta Loma, Calif.) and Jared Aamold (So., G, Breckenridge, Minn.). Sumner has been outstanding this season, going 3-0 in three starts and a 1.67 goals against average as well. Aamold is 3-1 with four starts on the season. Great goaltending and timely saves have fueled the hot start for the Golden Eagles.

Dakota College at Bottineau (3-6)
The Lumberjacks are 3-6 on the season and were swept at the hands of Montana State last weekend.

Ryan Patterson leads DCB with eight goals and four assists, while Leighton Holstein and Tyson Pringle each have seven points on the season. Matt Olson and Fabian Vik have each scored six points in nine games on the season.

Expect Mason Matthew to get the start in goal for the Lumberjacks. The freshman from Mason Matthew has played in six games on the season and is 3-3 on the season with a 1.99 goals against average on the year.
