CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston women's basketball team will return to action this weekend as they head to Marshall, Minn., and Sioux Falls, S.D. for a pair of games. The Golden Eagles will take on Southwest Minnesota State Friday, January 21 at 5:30 p.m., and Sioux Falls Saturday, January 22 at 3:30 p.m.
The Golden Eagles come into the weekend with a 1-14 (0-9 NSIC) record. Southwest Minnesota State enters the fray with an 8-6 (5-5 NSIC) mark, while USF is 11-6 (6-4 NSIC).

SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE SERIES
The Golden Eagles lead the series over Southwest Minnesota State 6-3 since 2011. Minnesota Crookston won the last match-up between the two foes 64-53 in Crookston. Minnesota Crookston's last win in Marshall was January 12, 2018.
SIOUX FALLS SERIES
The Cougars lead the series 7-2 since 2012. USF has won the last seven match-ups against the Golden Eagles. Minnesota Crookston's last win in the series came February 6, 2015 against Sioux Falls.
SOMETHING ABOUT MARY
• Senior Forward
Mary Burke returned to the fray after missing the
Bemidji State game. Burke had an immediate impact off the bench against Winona State. She notched 15 points on 5-of-9 from the field, and 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Burke will look to make a major impact for the Golden Eagles this weekend against Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State.
ELECTRIC EMMA
• Junior
Emma Carpenter has put out great effort for the Golden Eagles this season. She currently leads the team with 36 assists for 2.4 assists per game. In addition, Carpenter is averaging 6.5 points per game and is shooting 39.0 percent from beyond the arc. Look for Carpenter to be a big factor for UMN Crookston this weekend against Southwest
Minnesota State and Sioux Falls.
FRESHMAN STAND-OUT
• Freshman forward
Abi Fraaza has jumped right on to the scene for the Golden Eagles. Fraaza, a native of Birnamwood, Wis. Fraaza is second on the team in scoring averaging 10.2 points per game. She is also second on the team in rebounds with 5.4 rebounds per game. Fraaza's season high came with 18 points against MSU Moorhead Dec. 13.
DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE
• The Golden Eagles have the ninth-best scoring defense in the NSIC, allowing just 65.6 points per game from their foes. Where UMN Crookston is looking to continue to improve is offensively, where they are 16th in the NSIC with 55.2 points per game.
ON THE ROAD
• UMN Crookston will look for their second and third road victories this year respectively. The Golden Eagles lone win this season came on the road in Honolulu, Hawai'i against Chaminade University.

• Minnesota Crookston senior guard
Kylie Post has had a strong career in the Maroon and Gold. Post comes into the weekend averaging 10.3 points per game for UMN Crookston. For her career, she has 707 career points, 291 rebounds, and 160 assists for the Golden Eagles. She will look to be a big factor this weekend for Minnesota Crookston.

HELTER STELTER
• Southwest Minnesota State guard Sadie Stelter comes into the weekend averaging 12.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Mustangs. She has scored 16 points on four occasions this season. Stelter will look to play a big impact this weekend for SMSU.
MELEAH THE MUSTANG
• Meleah Reinhart leads Southwest Minnesota State with 13.6 points per game this season. She has been outstanding from the charity stripe this year, shooting 84.1 percent. Reinhart has struggled at times from beyond the arc, hitting at just a 16.3 percent clip. Her best game came with 27 points against nationally-ranked Nebraska Kearney earlier this year.
A WALL OF THREE-POINTERS
• Sam Wall has been outstanding from beyond the arc, as she comes into the weekend hitting 45.0 percent of her shots, on 60 attempts this season. Wall is averaging 8.6 points per game for the Mustangs during the 2021-22 slate.
SIOUX FALLS
FANNIN THE FLAMES
• Megan Fannin has been outstanding for the Cougars. The second-year freshman leads the team, averaging 14.6 points per game. Fannin has been strong beyond the arc, hitting 41.7 percent of her shots this year. She was however controlled in her last two games, as she had just three points against both Mount Marty and Northern State. Fannin's best game came with 26 points against nationally-ranked Fort Hays State University in the second game of the season.
KEEPIN' UP WITH KRYSTAL
• 5-11 senior forward Krystal Carlson comes into the weekend notching 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for the Cougars. She is shooting 47.7 percent from the field on the year. Carlson's best game came with 19 points December 11 against Winona State.
REBOUNDING MACHINE
• Dallie Hoskinson has been crucial on the boards this season. Though she is just 5-6, she has been hitting the glass hard. She leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game to go with her 9.1 points per game.
