CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team will wrap up the 2021 season with two matches Friday, April 9 at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D. The matches will be the final home matches of the season, and overall matches for the 2021 slate. The Golden Eagles will take on Augustana University at 10:30 a.m. UMN Crookston will face University of Sioux Falls at 2:30 p.m.
The Golden Eagles are 0-9 for the 2021 season. Augustana has a 10-2 mark for the year. USF has a 4-4 record for the year.
The Golden Eagles have shown improvement for the 2021 season. They have been more competitive in all of their matches. UMN Crookston has been led at the No. 1 singles spot by
Tasha Achermann (Fr., Motley, Minn.). Achermann and
Michelle Swyter (Jr., Perham, Minn.) have led the way at the No. 1 doubles slot. The Golden Eagles have also looked to the play of
Ashley Chomyn (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba),
Karli Renney (Sr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.),
Gabriela Pinto (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.), and
Samantha Hartung (Sr., Albany, Minn.). The Golden Eagles will honor Renney and Hartung on Friday, as they will graduate this spring. UMN Crookston will also welcome back 2020 senior
Ashley Smith, since she didn't get a true senior day due to COVID-19.
