WINONA, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 7-0 to Upper Iowa University in Winona, Minn.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-7 with Sunday's loss. Upper Iowa moves to 1-3 with the victory.
In doubles,
Michelle Swyter (Jr., Perham, Minn.) and
Tasha Achermann (Fr., Motley, Minn.) fell 6-0 to Varvara Ogorodnikova. At the No. 2 spot,
Gabriela Pinto (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) and
Ashley Chomyn (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba) fell 6-0 to Jessa Michieli and Alejandra Abella. At the No. 3 doubles spot,
Karli Renney (Sr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and
Samantha Hartung (Sr., Albany, Minn.) fell 6-0 to Mya Herrmann and Elaina Wall.
In singles, Swyter put up a great showing at No. 2 singles but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-1 to Michieli. At the No. 3 spot, Chomyn won a game in the first set and two games in the second set, but fell 6-1, 6-2 to Lina Ziani. At the No. 4 slot, Renney won two games in the second set, but fell 6-0, 6-2 to Abella. At No. 5 singles, Hartung was defeated by Herrmann, 6-0, 6-1. At the No. 1 spot, Achermann was defeated by Ogorodnikova, 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 6 slot, Pinto fell 6-0, 6-0 to Wall.
UMN Crookston returns to the court March 27 against St. Cloud State University in Duluth, Minn.
