VIRGINIA, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 7-0 to University of Mary Sat., Feb. 13 and 7-0 to Minnesota State University Moorhead Sun., Feb. 14 at Virginia Tennis Indoor in Virginia, Minn.

The Golden Eagles fall to 0-3 with the losses.

UMN Crookston showed improvement on Saturday. At No. 1 doubles, Tascha Achermann and Michelle Swyter were able to take a game off Tasha Dembo and Yusra Hegy, but they fell 6-1. At the No. 2 doubles slot, Ashley Chomyn and Karli Renney took a game off Jaimie Stoppler and Kelsey Lajom, but fell 6-0. At the No. 3 spot, Samantha Hartung and Gabriella Pinto were defeated 6-0 by Kali Askvig and Heidi Jacobson.

In singles, Dembo earned the 6-0, 6-0 victory over Achermann at the No. 1 slot. At the No. 2 spot, Swyter took a game off Hegy in the second set, but fell 6-0, 6-1. Chomyn was able to earn victories in games in each set, but was upended 6-1, 6-1 by Askvig. At the No. 4 slot, Renney was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Jacobson. At No. 5 singles, Hartung fell 6-0, 6-0 to Samantha Purpura. At the No. 6 spot, Pinto fell 6-0, 6-0 to Sarah Zielinski.

On Sunday, Achermann and Swyter earned a game victory over Lorissa Yuen and Rachel Nguyen, but they ultimately fell 6-1. At the No. 2 doubles spot, Miranda Griechen and Mikaela Griechen defeated Chomyn and Renney, 6-0. At the No. 3 slot, Hartung and Pinto fell 6-0 to Emma Anderson and Madison Bell.

In singles, Achermann was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Julia Geske. At the No. 2 spot Swyter took a game off Yuen, but fell 6-0, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Chomyn was able to pick up a game of Nguyen but was defeated 6-0, 6-1. At the No. 4 spot, Renney fell 6-0, 6-0 to Mikaela Griechen. At No. 5 singles, Hartung was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Miranda Griechen. At the No. 6 slot, Pinto fell 6-0, 6-0 to Bell.
UMN Crookston returns to action Feb. 21 at home against Southwest Minnesota State University and Minnesota State University-Mankato.
