St. Cloud, Minn.—Minnesota Crookston women's basketball was looking to get a split against the Huskies of St. Cloud State on Saturday evening inside Halenbeck Hall.
The Huskies stifling defense held the Golden Eagles to just seven fourth quarter points to knock off Minnesota Crookston, 72-55.
The Golden Eagles fall to 3-11 (3-9 NSIC), while the Huskies improve to 9-3 (6-2 NSIC).

Emma Carpenter three with two seconds left would give the Golden Eagles a 15-12 lead at the end of the first stanza.
Another Carpenter three on the first possession of the second quarter for Minnesota Crookston and a

The first half would end with each team essentially trading baskets, but the Golden Eagles would take a 32-30 lead after a pair of charity stripe makes from Post.
Much like the end of the second quarter, the start of the second half would be back and forth. A
Jes Mertens (Fr., G, Devils Lake, N.D.) three gave the Golden Eagles a 39-37 lead with 6:08 left in the third.
Mary Burke (Fr., G, Virginia, Minn.) buried a three with 3:27 left in the third to give the Golden Eagles a 46-43 lead.
Tori Wortz would bury a three late in the third to regain the Husky lead, this time, it would be for good, as the Huskies held Minnesota Crookston to just seven fourth quarter points, defeating Minnesota Crookston, 72-55.

The Golden Eagles were led by Post's 16 points, on 6-11 shooting from the floor. Post was the only Golden Eagle scorer in double-figures. Burke added seven, while Carpenter and Wheeler each added six points apiece.
As a team, the Golden Eagles shot 18-52 from the floor, good for 35 percent, but were outrebounded 44-27.
The Huskies had four players in double-figures, led by Wortz, who finished with 17 points.

The Golden Eagles will wrap-up the regular season next weekend, as they host travel partner Bemidji State for a Friday-Saturday series. Tip-off on Friday night is set for 5:30 P.M.
