Minnesota Crookston Set for Three Home Games Against Bemidji State, Northern State, and MSU Moorhead

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston women's basketball team is set for three games this week at Gary Senske Court at Lysaker Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles will take on Bemidji State University Tuesday, December 7 at 6 p.m. Minnesota Crookston will then face Northern State University Friday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m., and Minnesota State University Moorhead Saturday, December 11 at 5:30 p.m.

The Golden Eagles come into the weekend with a 2-7 (0-2 NSIC) mark. Bemidji State comes into the week with a 2-4 (0-2 NSIC) record. Northern State enters the week with a 5-3 (2-1 NSIC) record, while MSU Moorhead is 2-5 (1-2 NSIC).

BOXED OUT BY FOX

Bren Fox returns for her fourth year in the Golden Eagle uniform. She is a redshirt junior this year and the 6-3 native of Norwood Young America, Minn., has made an impact so far this season. Fox comes into the week averaging 9.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Her best game came with 17 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Chaminade University.

FRESHMAN FRAAZA

Abi Fraaza, a freshman from Birnamwood, Wis., has made an instant impact in her first season for the Golden Eagles. Fraaza leads the team with 9.3 points per game. Fraaza is also averaging 5.6 rebounds per game. She is shooting 50.9 percent from the field this season. Fraaza is coming off 15 points Saturday against Minnesota Duluth.

POST PLAY

• UMN Crookston senior Kylie Post has been a staple in the Golden Eagle line-up for the last four years. Post had 636 points, 267 rebounds, and 148 career assists. Post comes in averaging 7.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. She is shooting 50.0 percent from the field this season.

SOMETHING ABOUT MARY

Mary Burke has also been a staple in the line-up for the Golden Eagles. Burke is in her fourth season with the Golden Eagles. Burke is averaging 8.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season. She has been the top three-point shooter this season for the Golden Eagles. Burke is hitting at a 35.1 percent clip this season. Her best game came with 18 points against Michigan Tech.

NEWCOMERS

• UMN Crookston has four newcomers on the 2021-22 roster. The Golden Eagles will look forward to seeing what Abigail Leach,
Abi Fraaza, Alex Page, and Lily Orazem add to the squad this season. All four players have played a role so far this season.

AT HOME AT THE HERSCH

• Minnesota Crookston will have three games at home this week, as they take on Bemidji State, Northern State, and MSU Moorhead. The Golden Eagles have only had one game at home this season and it came last Thursday against St. Cloud State. Minnesota Crookston has mostly been on the road as they have traveled to Hawai'i, Michigan, and Missouri. The Golden Eagles will look to get wins at Gary Senske Court at Lysaker Gymnasium.

AGAINST BEMIDJI STATE

• The Golden Eagles have lost the last four games they have played against Bemidji State. The Golden Eagles are 6-5 against the Beavers since 2010. Minnesota Crookston had previously won three games over Bemidji State. The Golden Eagles last win over the Beavers came December 30, 2018.

AGAINST NORTHERN STATE

• Minnesota Crookston has won two-straight against the Wolves. Minnesota Crookston won 69-64 and 66-63 over Northern State last season. The Wolves had previously won the last three before last season.

AGAINST MSU MOORHEAD

• The Dragons have won seven-straight against the Golden Eagles. The last win for the Golden Eagles came December 8, 2017 with a 69-65 victory over MSU Moorhead. The last win for Minnesota Crookston over the Dragons at home came January 22, 2016.

THE HEIGHT OF HEITTOLA


• Bemidji State sophomore forward Rachael Heittola has been a force in the post for the Beavers. The 6-2 Belleville, Wis. native averaged 15.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Heittola is shooting 50.0 percent from the field this season.

MYER TO YODER

• Her name might have changed from Trinity Myer to Trinity Yoder but she is still the same player. Yoder is averaging 10.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Yoder had a season-high 15 points against Southeastern. She will look to make an impact this week.

GET IT TO BACHMANN

• Brooklyn Bachmann comes in notching 8.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for Bemidji State. Bachmann had 13 points versus Minnesota Duluth. She has scored in double figures in the last five games against Minnesota Crookston. 

NORTHERN STATE
NSIC NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK


• Kailee Oliverson is the reining NSIC North Player of the Week. She is leading the Wolves this season with 15.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Oliverson is shooting 41.1
percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc. At 6-4, she will be important to slow down for the Golden Eagles.

LEAVE IT TO LEXI

• Lexi Roe comes in notching 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Roe is shooting 38.6 percent from the field this season. Roe's season-high 19 points came against Minot State.

ALL-FRESHMEN

• Northern State sophomore Rianna Filippi was named to the All-Freshmen Team last year in the NSIC. Fillippi has been a great facilitator with 5.8 assists per game. She is averaging 11.5 points per game this season.

MSU MOORHEAD
HERE GOES THE BOOM


• MSU Moorhead junior Peyton Boom comes in notching 14.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. She is hitting 50.6 percent from the field this season. Boom's season-high of 21 points came against Montana State-Billings

MCKEEVER MUSINGS

• Mariah McKeever, a native of Ada, Minn., comes into the weekend averaging 8.9 points per game. McKeever's season-high of 15 points came her last time out against Minot State.

IMPACT FRESHMAN

• Natalie Jens, a 5-7 freshman from Beaver Dam, Wis., has jumped right on to the scene at MSU Moorhead. Jens is averaging 11.9 points per game this season for the Dragons. She is shooting 35.1 percent from the field.  She had 15 points against both Central Missouri and Michigan Tech.
