CROOKSTON, Minn. – Minot State University scored two goals in the first six minutes and didn't look back as they picked up the 5-0 victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston women's soccer team. The game was played Friday, October 29 at the UMN Crookston Soccer Field.
The Golden Eagles fell to 1-14 (1-11 NSIC) with Friday's loss, while Minot State improved to 10-4-2 (9-2-2 NSIC).
Minot State had 30 shots, with 14 shots on goal. UMN Crookston finished with five shots, four of them on frame. The Beavers were guided by a pair of Sarah Upton goals. Sofia Lewis had one goal and one assist, as did Anabel Noches.
The Golden Eagles were led by two shots on goal from
Brooklyn Fischbach (Fr., D/MF, South St. Paul, Minn.).
Jacqueline Calderon (So., MF, Indio, Calif.) had two shots, with one shot on goal.
Emma Stempien (Fr., GK, Plymouth, Mich.) started in goal and had nine saves with five shots allowed.
Maddie Kindred had the clean sheet in goal, with four saves.
Minot State struck first in the fourth minute when Sarah Upton scored off a Sofia Galvez assist. Less than two minutes later, Upton scored again, this time off the feed from Lewis.
The Beavers extended their tally to 3-0 in the 31
st minute on a Noches goal off a great pass from Logan Holley.
Minot State pushed the advantage to 4-0 in the 61
st minute when Lainey Sandberg found the back of the net.
The final tally for the Beavers came in the 84
th minute when Lewis scored off an assist from Noches.
UMN Crookston will head to the University of Mary for a 1 p.m. meeting with the Marauders in Bismarck, N.D. Sunday, October 31.
